Title: Take in blind Syno. Eupterus?

Pseudospecialops - March 19, 2008 05:37 AM (GMT)

We have in our town an LFS that is mostly a pet shop but has a really sharp fish lady defending good fishkeeping practices in her department. She has a Syn. Eupterus, about 3", that she says got put in with the wrong tankmates and lost his eyes.

She and I talk Synos and Cichlids about once a month, and this last time she offered to give him to me gratis to give him a shot, since there's the danger someone would cull him on one of hers days off.

If I take him am I likely to create a problem in my tanks? Is it unrealistic that he can live successfully? How small can the fish with him be? I'm assuming that I'd keep him separate from my other Eupterus (who rules the bottom of my 55G). Seems like they do so much by feel with their barbels that he still might get by.

All wisdom is welcome!
