Title: German Blue Rams
cturner - March 19, 2008 02:02 AM (GMT)
I know rams like softer water, with that said do you think that they could adapt to 7.8 ph?? I'm looking to add something in with my discus that cover the lower parts of the tank that can withstand the higher temps. I lost all my cac's because of the higher temps. worry wart! Any ideas??

Rena, there will be no problem at all. The rams you buy at the LFS are all conditioned to handle the water. Just think of your discus, they too live in soft water in the wild and seem to be doing quite well in your tank. The only thing you might have trouble with is to breed them. For that they need soft water and an acidic PH for sure.
Good luck and let us know what you decided. Tres Bien!

That's what I figured, but I felt safer asking. I'll get them from the same breeder where I picked up my discus, TwoFishGuyz! Klaus how many would you recommend in my 90?? Current stocking is 9 discus, 11 rummy nose, 6 cardinal testras, 2 leopard cories & 2 panda cories. Should I make any type of caved areas for them or would they be content chilling in the plants and driftwood??
By the way, Thanks!

Rena, I would get about 5 or 6 of them. A 90g is a big playground for them. They will be content with the plants and the wood. However, I would place some smaller rocks in a few hidden spots. These guys might use them to spawn if you are very lucky. fishy

Hi there, I keep about 8 GBRams in my 90g with 8 discus & they are fine....they have sev'l small clay pot caves on the bare bottom, so they can hide, but they don't....just a thought...

Thanks Dotti! I'll either be picking up the rams tonight or tomorrow and putting them in qt for 2 weeks.
