I have 8 frontosa that i need to sex so I can move out extra males . which way is the easiest to sex them ? The way I think is right is to look at their forehead and the females would be slopped from the forehead to the nose area and Males dont have a slopped forehead because of the large lump the males form. DO the females develope that lump also ?

Is this the correct way to tell males and females apart besides venting. I do not know how to vent them and taking them someplace to have it done is not an option for me.

i cant help you out here but you can take pics of them and see if the others can help you sex them. or take pics of the vents of the fish. the problem i see here though is remembering which fish was which.

Ted,,,I just tried to find images on Google of ther Fronts sex organs with no luck. (sounds sick huh). Melafix fix!

But I read up on some things and it is said that both the male and female will indeed grow the hump,,but the males will be more difined. And the older the fish, the larger the hump.

I've got a few of Les' Front pic on my comp. I will check to see if I have shots with the difference and post. I dont think I need his permission as long as it's helping someone. idunno
