I have a "Chocolate Albino Pleco". He is one of the oldest fish I own, or in other words, he's the one that survived the longest and the one I've kept the longest.
I picked him up (I'm assuming it is a male) about 4 years ago at about 2" TL.
Now he is about 9" ( 23 cm's) TL.
He has had mbuna's (L.caeruleus, Afra's, M.estherae's) , Hap's (peacocks, Azureus, Taiwan Reef) and Frontosa's as tank mates during various stages of his life.
He did get a bit banged up by a male Metriaclima estherae (red x red) awhile back. The estherae chomped on his eyes! This took quite a bit of time to heal but the pleco has lived through it no problem.
The pleco also does this little dance with my Protomelas 'Taiwanee reef' when the hap is trying to spawn. The pleco doesn't back down and give up territory without a little posing. He doesn't really interfere too much with the Cichlid spawning though. The cichlids will find a way.
On occasion the pleco will shoot right to the top of the tank (for a gulp of air I assume) making a big splash, which makes me immediatelty jump up to see if one of my other fish has taken an attempt at trying to fly. Then I see it was the pleco doing his 'flip'.
Doesn't really do the best job of cleaning algae off the glass though, so I hope that isn't the main reason you picked him up.
here are some recent pix. Not the best pix.
