Hey guys/gals,

Some may have heard of the new imports out of the lake for the Aulonocara Gallerya Reef. There are no pictures on the web that i have found yet so heres what they look like. Very similar to the Maulna bi colour 500, but taller like a chitande varient. Heres my dominent male!

And heres an update on my Male fossorochromis Rostratus. he's in a 125g along with 10 girl fosso's and 5 featherfins. His colour just keeps getting better and better

Nice addition. Was that Peacock something you were looking for or did it just fall into your lap?

Where did you find it?
How big ?
Love the finage on it.

And the male Fosso, wow,,how big is it? you breeding it?

cool fish the Clap
the pelvic fins are curled??
and is that a sub dominant male at the back??

the fosso guy looks awsome Blush

bradley - February 24, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
No the pelvic fins do not curl, just looks like that in this particular picture when he was displaying. Yes thats the sub dom male behind, he donsnt have as nice of fins and hes a but smaller.

I am breeding the fossochromis yes. As far as the peacocks, no they did not fall into my lap lol... I ordered them back in december when i first heard of them. I am the only one with wild adults in onterio right now i believe. I dunno, just another colony to rack up i guess haha. The girls are about 3", sub male is 3.5 and dominent male is 4". I got them from Africa... beerad

I have many WC peacock colonies now:
Masoni
Kandeense
Baenschi
Mdoka
Gallerya
I have several F1 colonies breeding aswell.

Love the fossorochromis Brad Good Job

I still dont know how you guys get WC fish directly from Africa. I have found 1 contact but they dont reply back Grrrr ...looks like i need to take a trip down there myself.

My fossochromis finally bred today. The last time i bred fosso's was almost a year ago but the male and female died.
I have been waiting for this group to spawn the last couple monthes, but with the big haps it will take longer then any peacocks or mbuna... Atleast im guaranteed 50-100 large fry from them!

Congrats Brad the Clap

Does this new rare peacock have a different name? I don't see anything about this strain in the Malawi book. Or is this just the collection location of this varient?
thx

bradley - February 26, 2008 12:34 AM (GMT)
i dont thinkit has a proper name yet, and was just discovered this fall,,, or so i here anyways. maybe larry will know. i do know galerya reef is a location, but im not sure exactly what the species name as on the order list it was simply put under aulonocara gallerya reef...

wow..
if they were discovered this fall, i bet it would cost a fortune to bring it over..
it was discovered less then a year ago...

Aulonocara Gallerya Reef aka "dwarf bicolor 500"
There is a picture of Aulonocara Gallerya Reef " in Ad Konings Malawi Cichlids 4 th edition. So Ad or Larry may have more info on them.
They may not be new discovery, only new name attached to them. Not much difference between bicolor 500 except size.

That was exactly what I was thinking!
