I have read and seen that Demasoni tanks seem to have higher fry survivor rates if the mother spits in the tank. At one quality LFS there were fry in the Demasoni tank in the store!
Is that treatment reserved just for their own species, or if I let my yellow lab spit in the tank they share with the Demasoni are those fry completely hosed?
I've had a yellow lab mom eat her own fry, so I have to factor for that, too.
Thus far I have had zero survivors from about 5 in-the-tank spits with other species, but no experience with Demasoni.
Thanks!
I'd be interested to know as well. I wouldn't have thought that demasoni would be any different than other mbuna in that regard.
I have my demasoni in with other mbuna, lots of lace rock with tiny hiding spots, and have never had a fry of any type survive.
My demasoni moms were pretty good about not eating their fry when I had them separated out in a holding tank, with one exception - she ate hers the next day.
