Title: New Shrimp

Here are some decent pictures of my new red cherry shrimp! I think the 1st & 3rd pictures are of females and the 2nd picture is of a male.

Thanks! I find these guys very interesting to watch, almost just as much as my fish!

I just saw a tank full of these yesterday when we dropped off some fish at a friends house!

He said you can literally see the eggs inside the females when they are ready!

Are you planning to use them as feeders?

Will you people stop posting all these funky nice fish and creatures dumb dumb i want sooo many things i've seen, going to end up with a zoo Faint

cturner, i used to have loads of different shrimps in my SW and love them to bits especially when they start crawling on my hand and cleaning my fingers like a manicure treatment Bouncy ...do they do that kind of stuff?

kimmy Has anyone ever had them in a Cichlid tank or would they become Cichlid munchies? blinky

Too cute!

I'm wondering the same thing that geelite asked. Can you keep them with fish or will they get eaten?

When I see them at the fish store, they are always in a tank by themselves.

They would definately be cichlid snacks! I don't plan on using them as feeders but if my population gets outta control I will. If you look closely at the 1st and 3rd picture, see the yellow, those are eggs developing to be released soon for fertilization. It's called their "saddle" and when they are holding fertilized eggs it's called "berried". The little ones are extremely small when they are born. I'm gonna need a magnifying glass to find them!

you can keep them with community fish small enough to not eat them.

Cool. My SW shrimps used to have eggs all the time but then they became coral & anemone food Prboy

Have you ever raised their babies? I know SW is not soooo easy in a tank.

cturner - February 3, 2008 11:03 PM (GMT)
Well I've only had them for a few weeks now so I haven't had any babies yet.

They are in a tank all by themselves, well with lots of snails!

Nice going, Rena! Bouncy

You have really expanded your horizons since joining CH! the Clap

You got rid of your Mbuna and went into Discus keeping and
now you're keeping shrimp! Good Job

Keep up the good work! Bouncy

Don't worry PB it might take awhile but we plan on buying a house in the near (a couple of years) future, whether it will be this one that we live in now (buy it from the landlord) or a different house. When that happens the mbuna and tangs will come back, maybe with a vengence! Blush

preacherboy - February 4, 2008 05:14 PM (GMT)
Rena, do I sense a "fish room" in your future? Hmmmm Now this should be good!

cturner - February 4, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
