Title: Should I freeze New Life Spectrum?
steve - June 27, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
Hi. I just recieved a bucket of new life spectrum. Its enough food to last me over a year. I put it into 10 or 12 freezer bags. Should I freeze it? Thanks. Steve.

Hi there Steve. You can freeze it, but I don't think it would be necessary for a good long while. Since you already went to the trouble of putting it in bags, I say go ahead!

I keep mine in the freezer. That bucket has lasted me well over a year and still has plenty in it.

Am I messing up if I don't freeze mine? I got the same bucket!

I too keep the whole bucket of NLS in the freezer as I do with all my foods. I buy everything in bulk and it is the only way to keep it over a long time. The flake I buy in 5.5kg (~11lb) bags and then divide it into 1lb freezer bags.

Pseudo, I think it will be fine for a long time if you don't freeze it, but if you think you'll have it for over a year, I would probably put it in the freezer just in case.
I just refill my smaller containers once in a while and stick the bucket back in the freezer. I like to use empty seasoning containers - I just shake the containers over the water like seasoning meat. :D
