No snails for me, please! dumb dumb

There are very few plants that will work in a cichlid tank. idunno

They have to be something the cichlids don't like.

Someone will come along I'm sure and give you a few names! Good Job

I don't know what plants work in a mbuna tank. I've heard of some people having Java fern, but I don't know how long it lasted.

I have alot of snails in my discus tank! I've got pink ones, green ones with spots, the spiral shelled ones and black ones so far that I can find! Don't ask me for their names cuz I have no idea. They hitched hiked with my plants from Utah (where I got my plants)!

Ohhhh I forget to tell you I have clear ones too! Yeah it was weird I knew I had the black ones to start then all of a sudden my neices were over and they yell "Aunt Correna there's a pink snail in your tank!" I said "WHAT???" twitchy

So of course we then go on a snail search! That's when I found all the other ones too!

This reminds me of my younger days when I could actually grow live plants.

I had snails, clear and dark brown, come in on some plants and after some time, I had so many snails that they were taking over the tank and filter. yikes

Yeah, some don't last long. I guess I don't have enough calcium in my water for their shells to harden or something. I find a dead one here and there, which I don't like because they are in my discus tank and they tend to foul the water rather quickly. I was thinking of putting some cucumber in and collecting them and keeping a few in the 10 gallon with my shrimp since I'll have to add a little calcium to the water for the shrimps shells.

Most snails won't hurt you plants. Malayasian trumpet snails and pond snails tend to take over a tank. I've had nerite snails and mystery snails with no negative impact. Go to azgardens.com and they have some info on snails they sell. I'm not saying buy their snails; I just saying they give good info about the snails.
