Title: Filtration Set Up for 125 Gallon Undrilled

preacherboy - December 31, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
I am starting to put together the necessary equipment for my new
125. Bouncy

Thanks to Rena and Yodahorn, I now have... ohhh please ohh please

1 Rena XP3
1 AC110
3 AC70's

I was thinking that I would probably need 2 canister filters and 2 large
HOB's. Hmmmm

What do you guys think? Hmmmm

What would you guys do and how would you arrange the filters?
Where would you put the canister filters; on each end or both in the
middle with the HOB's on each end?

Thanks in advance for you help! Prboy

I have a Emperor 400 only a few months old with brand new bio wheels . I paid 30 on ebay and put about another $20 into the bio wheels. Make me an offer. Also, have a NIB Whisper 60 and a few thermometers.

Also, I have a few large red lava rock that you can have for $2 a piece.

PB what do you plan on having in this brut when your all said and done??? Hmmmm

If you plan on having it pretty overstocked I would grab another xp3 or an xp4 if it's in your budget.

I would place your 2 biggest hobs towards the center and put your 2 canister inlets on the back corners and have your outlets with the "jet" heads in the middle facing both front corners. I hope that makes sense. You should get a pretty good flow all around the tank that way! I can't wait to see pictures of your progress! Make sure to take some with you filling it up! I wish I had the room for a 125, I would have one for sure!

My 125g has a AC110 on each end and a recently added XP3 in the center. I only wish is the spray bar on the xp3 was longer. All in all I'm pleased with this setup.

For a few years I just ran 2 ac110s on the tank but as the haps in my tank have grown in size and the amount they output. I felt the addition of a canister filter was warranted to keep the tank cleaner.

I agree that having a camnister on each end with an ac 110 in the center as suggested by cturner would be ideal. All it costs is money.

Those AC 70s will come in handy for grow out tanks!

Good Luck!

Thanks Rena and Dave! the Clap

I was pretty much thinking the same thing by going with
two canister filters on each end and the 2 HOB's in the middle. Hmmmm

Anyone else care to weigh in on this topic? Now this should be good!
