1) How many powerheads does everybody use in their tanks?
2) What flow rate? How many Gallons Per Hour?
3) Where do you point them?
I would like to hear from everybody who owns a tank, small  or big tanks fishy
I don't use any powerheads at all.
My largest tanks are only 75 gallons and I've never felt a need to have any.
So I guess my response would be: none, zero, and n/a.
I bought a good one (don't remember the GPH) but when I tried it in a 4 foot tank it was just too much current. I know it has a flow adjustment on it but I don't have the instructions and can't find it.
When I get my 150G I'm planning to try it again and see if in the larger tank its flow is better absorbed.
I used to have the biggest Aqua Clear power head running in my 90 gallon.
I had it set up for Under gravel jets system, I didn't like that too much because my fish were always moving sand and they seemed to only spit the sand right in front of an outlet and they caused alot of sand to get in the pre-filters that I had on my aqua clears.
I had it set in the middle of the tank at the top of the water facing the very front of the tank & in the mid level too, didn't like that either.
I had it on the left side of the tank towards the middle level of the tank facing at a slight right turn to bounce water off the front glass, didn't like that either!
worry wart!
So I took it out and give it to my sister for her 60 gallon tall!
IMO if your filters are running at their strongest and you have good filtration you don't need a power head unless you like the under gravel jet systems (UGJ).
Thanks for sharing cturner
