I have an XP3 and there is a coat of something in the return and intake lines. I made the mistake of squeezing a line and it looks like a calcium build up that went flying into the tank.
Is there a way to clean the lines without taking them apart??? Any ideas please let me know as soon as possible as I'm going to do a water change today and would like to clean the filter as well.
Other than disconnecting the hoses (which can be a huge pain) I don't know of any other way. I think the stuff in the hoses is the same sort of crud that builds up in the intake tubes of other filters.
Sometimes it will blow out when you turn the filter back on, but usually clears quickly. I've noticed that my fish seem to eat the stuff.
I don't have as much of a problem with it now as I did when the filters were new. I've never disconnected and cleaned the hoses - the problem just gradually decreased over time.
I suppose I should give them a good cleaning or replace them one of these days. worry wart!
Yeah the fish don't mind it as much as I do! It tends to stick to all the plants I have in the 90 now and it's very ugly looking!
