Today Barb Newell past away.

It is with great sadness that I must inform our forum that Barb one of our Resident Specialists past away today.Barb had been fighting Cancer for some time now and we recently thought that she had begun to turn the tide on her battle and started to beat it.

Barb and I have recently spoken quit a bit in regards to the revitalizing our Discus area and she was really excited about having Discus Hans to help. She was really encouraged and ready to really give us a boost with our program.Although I never knew Barb that well until recently with the development of our forum.I quickly realized the passion and love she had for Discus and life.

Today is indeed a sad day.

I didn't know Barb, but in the last month we have bin E-mailing . I was going to get some Discus from her. She was kindly helping me understand the keeping of Discus.

My hart goes out to all who new her.....
You will be deeply misted.......

It is a sad day when one of our family passes. I was not a discus keeper, but from what I read she was someone to be respected and admired. She will be missed.

Oh no, this is terrible news. My condolences to her family and friends.

I heared this very sad news this morning, at that moment I had no words, the whole day it's on my mind and still I can only say this is so unfair.

Rest in Peace Barb, I wish we had more time to know each other better.

I just saw the news. Although I never spoke personally with Barb I know that she has accomplished many things. It is very sad to hear that we have lost a loved one. My sympathy goes to her family and friends.

It is a very sad day. I've never known or even spoke to Barb but being involved in the cichlid community I certainly read and hared a lot about her.

What is going on this year?????????
Dr. George Barlow, Stuart Grant, Jacques Géry and with Barb Newell another excellent hobbyist has left us. I sure make me think.

Wow, I'm in absolute shock. I met Barb and went to her house on a few occasions and she is one absolutely tremendous lady! The adoration and love that she shows for her discus was absolutely unreal. She lives not 30 minutes from my house, and I met her during her time battling cancer. She was absolutely one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met.

My prayers goes out to her two children and the rest of her family. It is truly a tragic loss. Stephanie
