Would these guys be safe to keep with xenos and cyps? If so is it better to mix them up (single black, white, gold etc) or should I try to get a pair of single species? What would be best in a long run? Also when they mature will they go after my other fish (I dont care if they eat little fry).
thanx for any help.
Tom, I do not have any experience with calvus or comps but personally I would not keep them together with cyps. However, there are quite a few here familiar with these fish and I hope that they will give you a better answer.
dont mix them. the comps may decide to have a cyprichromis snack. i have only kept them with frontosa and they hold their own, same diet etc... comps/calvus will try and eat anything twice the size of its mouth lol
Well, I guess it would depend on whether or not you are going to be breeding them.
I think it would be a pretty good looking tank if you were to keep them together since cyps are mid/upper level swimmers.
As far as keeping Calvus and/or Comps together,,,same as whether or not you are breeding them. If they are small enough,,,they'll be fine until one or more decide to start picking/choosing a mate. But,,IME,,,I have had Calvus and Comps together in a 55gal. w/very little or no problems. You just need a have enough hideaways, conch shells on both sides of the tank.
Hey Tomek,,,you've disappeared. idunno
Did you make a decision on these fish yet????
Keep us posted.
AP. Cheers!!!
