CHF Staff Information

The CHF staff is a small team of people involved in helping to run this community. Other than participating in the chinese history discussion, they also help to take care of this community and make sure that this forum is in good order through the various moderation work they do. Please read the following info so that you understand what our staff's power as well as who our staffs are.

Our staff team is organised into 3 groups according to their power:

>>Administrators:
The Administrators are the heads of this community. They have complete control and administrative rights over the whole forums. They also have the power to recruit or dismiss staffs, not to mention the power to ban/unban members.

>>Super moderators:
Super moderators have full moderation power to all forums. They also have the power to warn or ban/unban potential troublemaker.

>>Moderators:
Moderator have full moderation power to only a few forums assigned by the administrator. They also have the power to warn or ban/unban potential troublemaker.


Our Current Staffs


>>1. General Zhaoyun (GZ)

Group: Administrator

Info:
GZ is the founder and head of this community. Born in Taiwan (and still holding a ROC passport), he migrated to Singapore when he was 6 years old. He was grown up and educated in Singapore. He got his master degree in mechanical engineering in Imperial College London in 1998 and subsequently worked as research engineer with his family business until 2003 when he began to be involved in sales and marketing. Currently he lived in Singapore although he still hold a ROC Taiwan nationality.

GZ pursues chinese history for interests and hobby as an amateur ever since the college times, when he began reading chinese history books. He has a good general knowledge of chinese history. As a native chinese speaker, GZ is well-versed in the chinese language. He began to be involved in online history communities when he founded Simaqian Studio (an online community) in 2001 and sofar has accumulated much experience in running online community.

In June 2004, he decided to establish this community to provide an environment for discussing chinese history.

GZ is planning to specialise on Han and Tang history, as he has special interests on them. He also has interests in various chinese culture and like Romance of 3 kingdoms, Confucianism, Buddhism, Tang Poetry and other chinese cultural studies.

>>2. Liu Ce

Group: Super Moderator

Info:
Liu Ce comes from America. He is an active forummer at Scholars of Shen Zhou (an R3K community) and GZ got to know him there. Subsequently, he applied and later become a staff at Simaqian Studio and prove to be a competant staff at Simaqian Studio. Due to his interests in chinese history, he has applied and later become a staff at CHF when this community was founded. Currently, Liu Ce is a student in a high school.

Liu Ce's chinese history background is largely specialised on 3 kingdoms history. He has a good knowledge of the Romance of 3 kingdoms novel and its history.

>>3. Yun

Group: Super Moderator

Info:
Yun comes from Singapore. GZ gets to know Yun at All Empires community where he was a forummer. Noticing Yun's expertise in chinese history, GZ decided to invite and recruit Yun to be a staff at CHF.

Yun is currently a history major in National University of Singapore. He intended to become a professional historian after he pursued his PhD degree in the future.

Yun's chinese history background dated from the age of 13 when he was introduced to chinese history from Romance of 3 kingdoms novel. 3 years later, he moved on to the age of fragementation (period of disunion) and after that, when he was in the army, he decided to pursue his career as a profession chinese historian. Yun has a good expert knowledge in general chinese history, in particular the period of disunion (age of fragementation) era.

Yun is a chinese Singaporean and has a good command of the chinese language. He reads widely including both english and chinese sources.

>>4. Yihesan

Group: Moderator

Info:
Yihesan is popularly known as "Janissary" in Simaqian Studio and "Ihsan" in All Empires community. Yihesan is just the chinese version of his real name called 'Ihsan".

Yihesan has been a staff of Simaqian Studio for a long time ever since its foundation. He comes from Turkey and is currently majoring in history in the university. He has been considered (in the online history communities) to be the 'expert' in turks history. In fact, he specialised in central asian history and intended to pursue PhD in this field in the future and become a professional historian.

Due to his expertise in Tujue history, he has applied and later become a staff for CHF.

>>5. Thirdgumi

Group: Moderator

Info:
Thirdgumi comes from Portugal, but he was born in Shanghai, having migrated to Portugal when young. Like Yun, GZ gets to know Thirdgumi at All Empires community and notice his expertise in chinese history. He was later invited by GZ to become a staff at CHF and agreed.

Thirdgumi is currently a history major in a college in China. He has 'expert-level' chinese history knowledge and specifically focused on ancient chinese history.

>>6. Sephodwyrm

Group: Moderator

Info:
Sephodwyrm was born in Taiwan but moved to Indonesia (Bandung) when young (age of 7) where he stayed for a few years. He spent his secondary schools and Junior College life in Singapore (for a period of 8 years). Currently, he's pursuing a degree in plant genetics and biology at UC Berkeley.

Like Yun and Thirdgumi, GZ gets to know Sephodwyrm at All Empire community where he was known as Chap1984. He was recommended by Thirdgumi for his expertise in chinese history, and having noticed that, GZ decided to invite and recruit Sephodwyrm as a staff.

Although not majoring in history, Sephowyrm has good expertise in general chinese history knowledge, and reads extensively. You should check out some of his posting and will be able to learn a great deal from his contribution.

>>7. Ghost of Han

Group: Moderator

Info:
Ghost of Han (GOH) comes from America. He's currently a student in high school. Originally from SoSZ, GOH came over to CHF in the beginning and became an active forummer for 2 months before joining the staff team. Owing to his strong interests in chinese history and his activeness, GZ decided to recruit him to be a moderator.

GOH knows a fair amount of Han and 3 kingdoms history and is planning to study more about certain chinese themes such as economics and homosexuality. He plans to major in asian studies in the future and hopefully has a job related to it. GOH also has a basic understanding of the chinese language.

>>8. WuTao

Group: Moderator

Info:
WuTao was born in Hong Kong, but he has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, US, for the last 22 years. He is currently a student entering his first year of graduate school. His chinese history knowledge comes from reading books. Among his favorites are "Medieval Chinese Warfare: 300-900" by David Graff and "Perpetual Happiness: The Ming Emperor Yongle" by Shih-Shan Henry Tsai. His other historical interests include Japanese, British, and Roman history.

>>9. Astralis

Group: Moderator

Info:
Astralis is originally from Taipei, Taiwan; he moved to the United States as a child. He is fluent in Mandarin and has had an interest in history (especially Chinese and Roman) since he was a child.

He attended (and still has connections) to the University of California, San Diego, where he majored in History and Political Science, with a minor in biology.

Astralis has an especial interest in and knowledge of the Qing Dynasty, especially the Self-Strengthening Movement and China's reaction to the West/Japan. He is also interested in modern-day Chinese and American politics/military as he also posts in the Chinese Military Forum, the China Defense Forum, and the Taiwan Military Forum.

>>10. Zelbest

Group: Moderator

Info:
Zelbest was born in Henan, China. Currently he resides in California, United States and is college student, majoring in biology. He is planning to attend medical school in the future. He has read Shiji once a while back and is currently reading it over again. He also reads the analect of confucius and consider himself a confucianist.


>>11. RollingWave

Group: Moderator

Info:
Rollingwave comes from Taiwan and is studying in the National Cheng Chi University right now into his junior year and majors in public finance.

Originally from Heavengames history forum, Rollingwave has been a forummer ever since CHF was founded. Due to his active participation, GZ decided to recruit him as a moderator when the forums expanded in mid August.

Rollingwave has no real formal history studying back-ground, most of what he know comes from classes and personal interest and reading. His most interested subject is the Song/Yuan era, especially the Song, though he would hardly consider himself an expert.

>>12. Bryan

Group: Moderator

Info:

Bryan was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, USA. He is in the process of looking to become a student specializing in drafting at a local technical college. While certainly no expert on Chinese history, he has a good general understanding of the Sanguo era, and am always looking to further my knowledge not only in this one area, but in general Chinese history as well.

GZ got to know Bryan from SMQ and he came over to CHF when it was started. Recommended by Ghost of Han, Bryan was made a moderator in early September 2004.
