Metastock have this thing called smart chart, where the software saves all related information (trend line, indicators etc) whenever a chart is opened. It is meant to keep all your markings, setting in chart intact but at time it becomes a burden.

So for any chart that has been previously opened before, a corresponding smart chart was saved automatically in the subfolder called MSSmart. This smart chart is automatically recalled and override whatever default template, thus displaying the chart as what you have seen previously and not according to the new modified default template.

There is no way in Metastock you can delete this previously saved smart chart individually. But you can do in in window explorer. Go to the data folder and locate the subfolder called MSSmart, and delete this folder (which contain ALL smart charts with extension *.mws). [You may wish to do copy this folder just in case]. Once all smart charts are gone, new chart opened in Metastock will take the setting of the now modified default template.

Hope this helps.

Hi doozy,

I think I know what u mean..

Take these steps:
1. Open Metastock, from menu bar go to "Tools" then "Options"
2. Depends on your preference, under "Chart Options" tab -> Change Security,

a) if you would like to open the next chart as the its previously already saved view (say you've saved that chart before after plotting trendlines, putting remarks etc) - select "Use Smart Charts"

B) if you would like to open the next chart as of current template - select "Use chart as template"

You can only have either choice. But no worry, there is another useful method ;)
I'll continue on another reply...
