After using MS 4.5 for about 12 years, I thought I had all the answers but this has me baffled. When I click OK on the "Too Many Templets" error message it sends me to the Configuration menu and won't let me into the Templets menu to delete some templets.

I've set and reset the memory settings in Configuration per the manual but no change in the error message. Everything else works fine except the macros which all have templets in them and I get the same error message if I try them.

I'm sure I'm going to feel real stupid when I see the answer, but I'll sure appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

I don't know whether this will work.

Assuming the error message is really reflecting the real problem (some error message may not) then see if you can reduce the number of templates. This is what you are trying to do via the program but obviously the program is not allowing you to do this - reason why I am not sure whether the error message is giving the correct problem. If it is then the program should allow you to correct the problem otherwise it is bad programming.

Try to reduce the number of templates by moving the template files out of the template directory. The default program directory for MetaStock 4.5 is C:\MS. The default template directory is C:\MS\Template. The template files have the ".MSL" file extension. I believe the program read and list ALL the files in this directory as templates. Go into Window Explorer and move some of the files out of this directory to an archive. Then see if this works. Hopefully the manual will tell you what is the maximum. If not you have to trial and error to bring the number down to within the limit.

If this doesn't work then I don't know of any other way.

I'm happy to report that the "patient", with your expert diagnosis and protocol, is off life support and has made a miraculous recovery. And I was able to preform the procedure without incident, in about 5 minutes.
