Title: Pitfall of Chart Reading

Liquidity

Chart is supposed to represent the overall market activities. The bulls and the bears, leaving their trial after fighting in the market place. Chart reading, to me, is reading those trail market and try to disciple what the overall result of that battle; and hopeful do an educated guess on the probable outcome of the future direction.

If we follow this thought, then what we want to see is the natural result of trading done by all market participants, not something that can be easily created or influenced by a small group of people that is not representing the overall market.

That is why I don't like lowly price stock with low liquidity. If any stock's chart pattern can be changed by someone who has, say, S$100k, then there are many people who can change the chart as they wish, when they wish. If that is the case, when we decode the chart, how do we be sure that we are decoding the generall market message or the message that was purposely implanted for us?

Lion had started a thread called "The Unchartables", see:

I have no solution as to how can we trade this kind of stocks using charts; I generally avoid these stocks. If you have a better way, please enlighten me.
