| (Past event) "Class? Can anyone tell me what is the derivative of cosine x is?" A few hands were raised, some hesitant. Kiana's was one of them. Calculus was one of her least favorite classes because she couldn't understand the concepts. Algebra wasn't, calc was. Or was it because it was just a new subject that she needed time to adjust to? Either way, she was trying to at least pass with a C average. All her other classes, art, English, and music, she was passing with A's. All she could do now was try and study the best she could. "Kiana, do you know the answer?" She hesitated, thinking. "Is it negative sine?" Her teacher nodded, pleased with the answer. Kiana breathed a sigh of relief. If she got this right, she could pass. After class was over, she did her other classes like art and music. Another class she went to was to help her gain control with her mutant powers. When she was getting use to the class, she was able to change a steel pipe into her instrument, the flute, and other objects. This was just small achievements aside from what she could really do with larger objects. Last time in class, Kiana was able to change a large boulder into motorcycle and then into separate items like a katana, a spear, and other weapons, Why? To see how well she could change one mass into many other objects. Also because she was fascinated by weapons that were used in Chinese and Japanese history. Today she learned how to change object while she and it were in motion. Like when she threw a ball, she could concentrate on the object and change it in mid air, like into a spear, and then into water so that the weapon would be rendered harmless. Tomorrow she would do the same, but try with multiple items in motion. "You're learning how to grasp control of your powers very quickly, Kiana. This is great progress!" "Thank you, teacher!" That made her day completely. After picking up the mail and going into her dorm, Kiana threw herself onto the bed and began picking through the mail. "Yeah a package from Katherine. Yes! More Laurel Hamilton books!!! Now that will complete my Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter novel series!... What else?" She put her books on her bookshelf and saw a letter from home. Kiana opened it, seeing a small letter from her mother. After reading the first few sentences, she blinked a few times and tears fell onto the script, creating ink spots. Kiana grabbed her coat, a cropped midnight blue jacket with black glitter wings on the back, and ran out the door. The letter was left on the bed, with just these sentences. Kiana, Please come home. Your father was involved in a terrible car accident, and is a coma. He's going to make it, according to the doctors but the after-effects might change that. Katherine is helping out at the moment, but we need you here. Please hurry. Love, Mom. |
