beware the jabberwock, my son
the jaws that bite, the claws that catch
beware the jubjub bird and shun
the frumious bandersnatch

voldemort.
Voldemort is gaining in strength and followers. His sentiments about the bloodlines of witches and wizards in the magical world are not uncommon – far from it. Many established, wealthy and powerful families are only too happy to see him rise to power. They seem to be getting what they want.

he took his vorpal sword in hand
long time the manxome foe he sought
so rested he be the tum tum tree
and stood a while in though

order.
In an effort to create a force to match Voldemort and his Death Eaters, an organization called the Order of the Phoenix was recently created by none other than Albus Dumbledore, whose name says it all. It has grown substantially in the last few years. Perhaps worth mentioning was the rather unorthodox inclusion of a few seventh-year students, due to graduate in little more than a month. It seems a wise move, considering the rise of possible death-eaters among the students.

and, as in uffish thought he stood
the jabberowck, with eyes of flame
came whiffling through the tulgey wood
and burbled as it came

hogwarts.
Fear is not uncommon among the students at Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason is obvious; there is a war coming. Some can feel it in their bones. Some have experienced it. Some come from families that would be only too happy to see it happen. But some – some are too involved for their own good. There were a few who returned from Dumbledore’s office one evening, thoughtful, but refusing to talk about it with their peers. And those, perhaps, in their green ties, who seem to be a little too sinister.

one, two, one, two
the vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
he left it dead, and with its head
he went galumphing back

academy
The Miranda Goshawk Academy for Auror Training is currently holding interviews for its next set of trainees. The seventh years have yet to write their NEWTs, but it’s not difficult to see who has what it takes. Rather unsurprisingly, the majority of these were recently incorporated into the Order.

and hast though slain the jabberowock?
come to my arms, my beamish boy
oh, frabjous day, calloo, callay!
he chortled in his joy

WAR.

We’ve established the sides. Which one are you on?

It’s not just a fight between the Order and Voldemort – its war. And it’s a war against generations of preconceived ideas and prejudices against anybody not of “pure” blood. There are those who fight for their own safety, and their family; those that want to make the world a better place; those that refuse to live in such a society; those that fight against their own families – muggleborns, squibs, halfbloods, blood-traitors, call them whatever you like. Its unsung heroes, unlikely fighters, a group of misfits standing up for what they believe.

There are those who believe that those very misfits encompass everything that is wrong with the world; they taint the names of witches and wizards, they are a disgrace to the magic they use. And they intend to do everything in their power to right that. Purebloods, they call themselves. Untouched by muggle blood for centuries. And they happen to be immensely powerful, and convinced that the only possible option is victory.

Voldemort is rising, but the Order, although new, is stronger than he thinks.

And do they dare defy him?

Yes, we think they do.
