OOC: Forgot, vampires can't come into the afternoon.
Her body ached so much from pain and stress. Her newly recieved scars were still throbbing and pink from her recent and close encounter with death by a vampire. After trying to finding the earliest train ride out of Nice, she was able to get to Paris in about three hours. Now all she wanted to do was get away from the chaos and find peace for the moment. It was dark, with the remaining beams of sun slowly fading away. Like around 5:30 is. The weather was cooler than it should be with a little wind. But she didn't mind it, Hikari liked the cool weather. Hot, icky weather was one of the most hated things in her life.
Trying to find a place to rest, she had decided on going to the Bois de Boulogne. The park was a place that she could be with nature, besides the other forest. It was a lazy time, so there wasn't many people there. Maybe just a few stragglers, but few to bother her. Hikari walked slowly down a cement path until she saw an empty iron bench near a large water fountain. There was a horse rearing with a female rider, clad in armor and cloth, and a balance and a sword were in her hands. A protector of something.
Hikari decided to walk past the bench and sit on a blanket on the grass in the shade. Hey, it was a lot more comfortable than sitting on the bench. She was even comfortable inthe clothes that she was wearing; blue jeans with a lotus blossom tube top and sandals. She had worn a jean jacket but took it off, to reveal her bare shoulders and her right shoulder showed her white lotus tatoo. She wanted to feel the cool air on her skin. She laid down, and closed her eyes, taking in the scents and the sounds. All Hikari wanted to do was escape from reality, even if just for a moment. she talked softly to herself as she drifted
"God.. Grant this ray of light just a moments peace from the darknes... This mortal body is at her limit... "
As she was cooling off, Hikari thought to herself. After emptying both her 2 pairs of guns, she would need new ones. And the bullets, oh she would need to get silver and UV bullets. her recent attack from a vampire taught her that. Already she bought two new brownings, the bullets she bought too. But none of those things were cheap. She had to bribe to gun owner to give her the silver and the UV bullets. Hey, her survival came first. Either way, she had decided to by more items to help her.
Recently before she wen to the park, she visited a church, to pray. But for what? Many people considered that God was just a belief and that he didn't exist. But after what happened, Hikari would believe in anything to keep her alive. Even with the weapons on her side, that wasn't enough. Now back to the park, the sun compleltely disappered and the park lights were on. Opening her eyes, she checked her watch. 7PM on the dot. She got up and floded the blanket and put it in her bag. Her guns were still in their usual places, on her thigh straps. Her katana was still at her side.
She could never be to cautious or anything. Grave experience taught her that. One that almost cost her life.
".. I need a drink."
Hikari decided to walk off and found a vender who was selling food. She just bought a water and drank. Nothing like the icy cold spread through the body on a warm day.
As soon as the sun sets, the world changes. The power shifts, the mortals go to sleep and rest - except for the brave few that are rebellious to stalk the night. Well, with every rebellion, there is a risk, and running with the creatures of the night was about as risky as it gets. Laure was one of these creatures, but not one that the mortals had to fear - not as of the moment, she had bigger fish to fry. As soon as the sun set, she left her sfae house and wnet out into the world of the living that is Paris, France. My, how it had changed after all these years. Of course, Laure grew up in Grasse, a small town known for it's perfumers a few days walk from Paris - but, of course, now it would only take an hour or so in a car or by train. Half saddened by the extinction of various different forms of 'antique' transportation, Laure would prefer to ride horseback across her native country. She loved France, and was saddened by it's seemingly unneccessary downfall. Laure couldn't help but blame the mortals.
Heading for the largest library in Paris to study, as usual, she started by getting on Le Metro. Trying not to wrinkle her nose in disgust, and failing, she made her way into the dirty underground. The walls of the underground were lined with garbage, bums sleeping and living amongst the rats and refuse. It saddened and disgusted her all at the same time. What was better? To die or to live in this land fill? She swipped her metro card and made her way through the turn stile. After examining the line map for a few seconds she memorized it, Blue line A to Green line C, then, up the stairs to the platform across the street, Purple line 4 to A Line. Why couldn't it all be easy? They had to make things so difficult and complicated these mortals did. Shaking her head, she ran over the instructions again in her head and then headed off for her platform. A man or two eyed her with interest and Laure had to simply roll her eyes. Mortal men didn't now how to keep their pants on. What happened to chivalry? To Class? Ha, what would they think if they ever knew what she was?
Nosferatu - Vamphyri - Vampire.
So many names, one breed. It fascinated her, the myths, the legends, the truths. It was one thing to study the creature she was as a mortal - and another to study that same creature as one of the creatures. Some of the mortal stories were laughable at best. Turning into bats? Dracula and his wives? Bleeding crosses, holy water, age old curses. Ha. It was all just an easy explanation for what being a vampire really was. A blood virus. It had to be, somewhere along the lines something mutated - evolved. then, passed through any kind of blood or DNA transfer, much like HIV or Menigitis, the gene, or virus, or cell, whatever it was, infected the next victim - or lucky recipient, depending upon how you looked at it. It was this conclusion that Laure Aurélie Richis had stumbled upon in her many years as a hermit among Nefas' dusty volumes of Vampiric lore and various other medical books and histories. True, she had never attended a university - but Laure probably knew more about the mortal body than any MD or PHD alive. It all fascinated her - the body, the mind, theory, truth, formula - it all helped her in her line of work.
Being a spy.
Laure delt with more than just Vampires, for, there were more than a few intelligent beings on this planet. Werewolves, humans, shapeshifters, hunters, witches - you name it. You had to know how to gain their trust, how to carry yourself as one of them - understand everything that makes them what they are. When given eternity to learn about something - why not seize the opportunity?
After a few minutes of standing and waiting, the metro came and they all boarded. Laure picked a seat that was far away from all the others aboard and started to flip through one of the journals she lifted from Nefas' Annex. Flipping through the pages, she took in all of it's information. After two hundred years of reading your speed and comprehension naturally increases - greatly in Laure's case. But, unfortunately, there was nothing of any use in this journal.
After all of her transfers and metro rides, Laure was finally able to breathe again as she climbed the stairs to the street. Now, all she had to do was cross through the park and she would be on the street she needed. The street lamps that led through the park were on and made a nice lighted path for the mortals who were 'afraid', or should be, of the dark. After a few minutes of walking in solitude and peace, she sensed another being - a mortal. But she smelled something on her that made her tilt her head in curiousity - silver, gunpowder, and steel. Fresh wounds as well, or so it seemed. Smelling the air again she concluded that it was a mortal female, a hunter of some sort. Hmm, interesting. It wasn't long before Laure finally came across the girl. Walking stright past her on the side walk, she did not even cast her a glance but spoke, "A katana, now that's something you don't see everyday."
Laure stopped just past where she had passed the girl, back still turned to her, a small almost cocky smirk across her face. Now, it was time to see if she would attack, or if she was familiar witrh Nefas.
Icy cold running through her body, was that how it was to die? To turn into a vampire? The body had to die to change. But for the werewolf it was a simple change. Strangely enough, both were considered dangerous among the human population. But Hikari knew that not all vamps and werewolves were considered bad. She experienced that herself. Hikari met a werewolf that she actually had a very intriguing conversation with. His pack didn't hunt human, which was good on that point. But the vampire she encountered, was blood thirsty. She neaver died because of that. Thankfully, she escaped.
As she walked, Hikari passed a young woman under the lamp post. She seemed normal as a human, but Hikari couldn't tell. She wasn't an expert on telling who was what species. Then as they passed, the girl, without a glance, spoke.
"A katana, now that's something you don't see everyday."
Hikari walked a few more steps before she stopped. Her hand was on hilt of her sword. True it was something people didn't see everyday, but for her safety it was a risk she was willing to take.
"I have it at my side for my safety. What is it to you?"
She turned halfway looking at the girl. Who and what was she? If Hikari had to fight, she'd let the girl attack first. She never provoked action first, if she could help it.
