Ooc: Private for Vitauni, Winter, Carrico, and a bear played by Lorr Please dont join if you aint on the list, but feel free to read!

The days had started to shorten, and the nights, in turn, lengthened. Right now the sun was at its highest point it would be all day, and still a cold breeze stifled its stiffened fingers through everything; grass, which would rustle in despair, and trees, who would lose their leaves as they branches quaked; and even wolves; their coats thickening in a quick response even as the cold wind pushed its fingers against their skin. Vitauni sighed as she traveled through this desolate land, her ears against her head, held there by anger.

Things had all happened at once, a wolf fell down a cliff (lets say a NPC okie?) badly scraping her sides and breaking a few bones. She had been rushed to the dens, and Carrico had been called for, desperately needed to save this wolves life. And, of course, she was not in hearing range. Vitauni quickly started to track her and this is what brought her here, in the cold wind out of her territory. What was Carrico thinking? She was the lead caretaker, for heavens sake! She did not have ‘off hours’ here, she did not ‘weekend breaks’ or anything of that sort! She was ALWAYS on call for when a wolf truly got hurt, and the one time Vitauni seriously needed her to actually do something big (not like those things you get once a week; pulling out a thorn, got a scratch that wont heal, a hangnail, ectect) she was not there, she was not on call. And Vitauni’s howl traveled far and wide, and still she was out of range.

Her hair bristled again, and this time not from the wind. The black fur had already grown thick enough that the wind did not bug her too much, only every now and then the wind hit her fur just right and push it up, reveling her white skin (white, as it had never really had time for a tan, as the fur had always blocked it from such things). Her black lips rolled up, revealing the yellowish white fangs that were hidden under the flap of skin, and a soft growl (well compared to most growls that Vitauni emits anyways) rumbled forth, yellow eyes flashing as she tracked the scent in the wind. It had been hard, at first, but all of those lessons that her father had taught her served her well.

And now she was close enough that she could simply track the scent on the ground (after just a few minutes most scents will take to the air, and usually go in one direction or another. With her training Vitauni could track the scent, keeping in mind the wind speed and direction so then she knew where the real track was, and thus could find the ground scent when she was close enough). Black tail rose up, long hair waving in the wind like a flag, she breathed deeply as Carrico’s scent was strong now, even as the wind tried its hardest to rip it away from her greedy nostrils.

”Carrico!” She growled loudly, knowing that her scent was strong and fresh enough that the wolf was not far off and would hear her angry voice, ”Where the HELL are you?”

Ooc: Maybe Carrico be all like -SHH -peepants- lolness or something, scared that Vitauni is mad and scared that mr bear is around the corner or somethin lol tis up to you ^^

Macabre - April 7, 2008 03:36 AM (GMT)
Heavyset shoulders rolled forward against a spray of cold water. The brown bear, a young adult, plunged his broadening muzzle into it but failed to grasp the silver flash before his eyes. Like oil, the slick salmon thrashed vigorously out of his teeth before he closed his jaws completely. Damn. He hadn't missed a fish in a year or two, back when he was still practicing. The botched attempt burned in his chest with bitter twinges of resentment.
Let's take a break. Cinnamon-tinted fur spiked with saturation as the male shook his head. Humped shoulders shuddered as muscles flung the slabs of flesh and fur about, splattering the river bank. Then, water still draining from his ears, he swept his rounded cranium toward the forest behind him.
A voice?
Nah. Besides, it didn't matter. The bear knew of the plethora of wolves about these lands but they didn't frighten him. Why, he was already nearly twice the size of one of those pitiful pups. One swipe of his mitt could probably break a wolf's neck if it was dead on, and his long claws could take off its face. Of course, a full-grown Kodiak could sit on a wolf if it wanted, but he was still young. Not yet in his prime.
Then the sound came again, a guttural rumble somewhere behind him or maybe to the side. So subtle it could be a purr. The young male bristled and took a heavy step from the bank, peering dimly into the forest. He knew that a wolf had recently passed through the area, but the path didn't linger. Meaning the wolf hadn't stopped. Then again, the wind was blowing gently against his deep chest and carrying his scent right into the forest. He couldn't even smell what might be lurking there.
Still... his lips lolled off his black gums and elongated canines as he let out a short but loud rumble. The sound mounted in his chest and rolled from his jaws like an avalance, coarse and thick. A warning... this was his fishing spot. He wanted privacy. Let the damned wolves try to run him off.

Carrico - April 9, 2008 06:17 AM (GMT)
OOC: I have been so busy it's not even funny. My computer crashes like whoa and being away makes me museless. Sorry I've taken so long. I hope my post is okay. I haven't been able to talk to either of you to know that what I've just done is okay .. So I hope it makes sense :(
<33
---
Moving around a the large trunk of a tree. Carrico cautiously noted how it's knotted roots reached out dipping down into the cool water that flowed by with intent power. Flicking one ear back, she heard Vitauni calling out to her - however the female made no move to respond. The hybrid was busy hiding. She wasn't playing a game either. Laying low, Carrico flattened her ears nervously as she peeked around to observe the source and reason behind her decision to hide.
A large bear was some several feet away. She'd happened upon him quite by accident. However, he'd not yet noticed her. The loud rush of the water accompanied by it's relentless spit and spray seemed to aid her want for keeping the bear unaware of her presence. Carrico needed to get back - really she did. Only, she just couldn't move.
The female could probably out run the bear without having to exert much effort, however -- the fear she was feeling had her trapped. No matter how much she mentally talked herself up, Carrico was planted to her spot. Mentally cursing herself, an insecure growl of frustration nearly rolled free from her lips. She was low to the ground - ears back -- eyes half closed and hiding.
She was acting like a bloody rabbit.
How shameful and pathetic of her!
In the distance, Carrico heard Vitauni call out to her again. Frowning deeply, the female turned her head in the direction that her Alpha's voice trailed and came forth. For a split second, Carrico considered barking - yipping - yapping. She wanted to call out to her. But damn it all to hell, now Vitauni sounded angry. Obviously Carrico was not having a good day. She hated being a slave to fear. Natural submission was one thing. Being terrified without just cause was another...
Curling one paw forward, the vixen's body felt tense as she pushed herself forward. She really felt uncomfortable. Carrico needed to get back to Vitauni. It was her job and her duty. With her tail curled up between her legs, the young wolf slowly swung her nape around to get a good look at the bear. He looked to be distracted -- he was ... wasn't he?
Backtracking some, Carrico found herself to be holding her breath. The tree that she was hidden against acted as a partial bridge of sorts. The water from the stream splashed and slapped at the slippery bank. Carrico's front paws were dark and damp from standing as she had for so long. Drawing herself back, Carrico made ready to round the opposite side of the tree...

Ooc: No worries on how fast this gets done and stuff, no rush fer me! Um this post was rather werid to post so sorry thats its crap Dx Anyways... Macabre you can attack next post or whatever, I just wants you to know that you can g-mod me ^^

Oh the nerve of that wolf, thought the black alphess, how dare she leave Tyjiik! In truth, Carrico had every right to leave and come whenever she wanted, she had the right to explore and have time to herself, and, under normal circumstances, Vitauni would understand and accept that, even encouraging the wolf to go off on her own and have her own fun. Now, however, she was pissed. Pissed at Carrico for leaving this day, of all others, pissed at the wolf who was hurt, pissed at herself for not somehow preventing this, and pissed at… every-freaking-thing else. Vitauni being pissed is not a pretty picture.

She growled, her fur bristled, her lips curled, her tail was stiff. The rumble that came from her chest traveled through the ground, to anything that would be in reach of her deep sound waves. Yellow eyes, sharp and bright with anger, flickered to everything, moving and non moving. Her nose twitched furiously, and she licked it again, making the leather wet. A wet nose caught scents much better then a dry one, and since being close she had licked it a few times. Time was of the essence, and Vitauni had never been one for waiting.

”Where the fuck are you, Carrico?” she called again, knowing that the wolf was close. Her scent, mixed wolf with another canine, was so strong that Vitauni knew she had to be just around the corner. Unfortunately for the black fae, the wind was not in her favor, and so she had no idea that the large brown bear was just around the corner, that her sounds were going to anger him, and once she did stumble on him she would not have much of a chance to run.

Then a tree, and a flash of fur. Carrico’s fur. ”What the hell, Carrico?!” she almost yelled, her yellow teeth were unsheathed and another, deep throated growl came from the large black wolf. She ran to the tree, yellow eyes locked only to the fur, and not noticing the brown fur not far away. ”Come on, you are needed at home, NOW!”

She was just about to show her anger in a rather violent way, her jaws opening and wanting to clamp on Carrico’s ruff, but a noise, so deep, so threatening, that Vitauni’s own growl was not even close to it. It rumbled her chest, jarring her teeth and wiggling her insides. She turned around, hair whipping with the movement. A bear, a large male bear, stood there in the river, his black beady eyes staring her down. Vitauni was not sure what to do, not sure at all. She knew she had to run, that they, her and Carrico, needed to get away as fast as possible. But the bear was too close, and Jale had told her long ago that the brown beast could run very fast, even by wolf standards, and they where so close that the bear, if he wanted too, could catch up to them and strike one of them down, if not both.

”Stay behind me, Carrico.” Vitauni said sternly, still trying to figure out what the hell they were going to do.

Macabre - April 12, 2008 08:06 PM (GMT)
OOC: I'll have him swat at her but you can determine the damage and whatnot. What happens after he swats Vitauni?
IC:
No sooner did the cavernous growl rumble in his throat than the bear caught a flicker of motion out of the corner of his eye. Turning his hard black stare toward the tree, the sudden emergence of two wolves caught him by surprise. Instantly his shuddering shoulders bristled and ears flattened against his sloping cranium. They surprised him and that wasn't good.
One canine cowered close to the ground in the least threatening posture it could possibly assume. The bear's attention - and aggression - fixed instead to the other wolf, a large black female that looked the complete opposite of the little one. This one moved in rapid, violent motions with bared teeth, snarling loud enough for her savage vocalizations to ring in the bear's ears. Her fur stood on end and her tail flagged in the air. Two wolves suddenly right before him, encroaching on his comfort zone.
Panic and anger merged in the young male's veins and brought his head down, throat vibrating as a loud sonic growl thundered from his chest. They should know better. Shadowed sockets hid his eyes from the sun' touch, making them look like flat black buttons. Lips lifted from yellow-white teeth that contrasted sharply from his dark fur.
”Stay behind me, Carrico.”
Now the black wolf maneuvered in front of the other one and locked her stare on him. The raised hackles, the growls, the sudden movement, and now this direct stare triggered a sudden impulse in the young bear. Moving swiftly, he bounded heavily forward, shifted his weight to his left forepaw, braced his hindquarters, and flashed a wildly-swinging paw out at the black wolf's head.
The aim wavered but his heavily-furred mitt packed the power of a sledgehammer and long claws curved wickedly. If she got lucky, only his large black paw would knock her upside the cranium and his claws would overshoot.

Carrico - April 16, 2008 06:12 AM (GMT)
OOC: I'm going with the flow.. I hope that's okay. Just let me know when Winter should come in. XD I miss you guys!
---
Breathing deeply, Carrico actually released a whimper as Vitauni came strolling over in her direction. Desperately shaking her head no, the female silently willed the Alpha to turn tail and run. Still frozen in place, she realized that Vitauni had come to understand her situation too little too late. Easily following the advice given, the half breed twisted her form to stay behind the other female. Closing her eyes for a moment, the female wished so hard that she were not small and petite in size. It wasn't right or fair that Vitauni was placing herself at risk.
"Vitauni, please.." Carrico whispered in the softest of pleas. She heard the growls and snarls exchanged. She didn't want a physical confrontation to take place. But how could she prevent such? The bear had caught sight of them - and he didn't look at all pleased.
Shivering some, Carrico frowned deeply as she pinned her large ears submissively to the back of her skull. With her tail tucked tightly between her legs, the hybrid looked every bit the part of a submissive creature that was totally inclined and open minded to submit and admit defeat.
"..Please.." She breathed a second time, though her nervous roll of the tongue was now more directed towards the bear.
The one that was coming so quickly towards them.
When he made a swat, Carrico tucked and rolled. In doing so she found herself in the water. The current was strong but she wasn't injured in the slightest.
Vitauni - April 17, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
Ooc: Ok did this quickly at school. SuperWinter can come in next if he wants ^^ Annd sorry that its crap, did it school without spell check because these stupid school apple computers dont have a damn right click on their mouse. I hate it.
The sheer anger coming from the beast just yonder was nerve shattering. It rolled through the ground, pushed through the air and slammed into anything in the way, including the large black wolf standing agressively, protectly over a much smaller canine. Vitauni did not dare to look around, did not dare to tear her eyes away from the overly large brown form standing just meters away from her. She could not look left nor right for an escape route, because Vitauni was afraid, yes afraid, that if she tore her eyes away from the bear then she would be killed in an instant, and thus so would Carrico. Out of ideas Vitauni did what she knew what; tried to intimadate the other in her own, growly, snarly ways.
Then, in a rush of brown and fear, the blundering bear burst forth, and it seemed to happen in slow motion. Vitauni saw his angry, beady eyes, saw his lower lip, which was much too big (though that is normal for all and every bear) fall open and reveal healthy pink gums and blunt large teeth. She saw his fur move with his huge muscles as they flexed and pushed him forward, towards herself. She even saw little droplets of water as they flew off, shimmering in the cold fall sun.
Then she a paw, so big and blunt that no wolf could ever match it. And lastly she felt the hit, felt her skin tear (and, by god, she could have sworn her heard her own skin tear under the pressure and claws). She felt the warm thickish liquid escape from her newly open wound, felt it push through her black fur and, in turn, felt her life start to drain away. All of this happened in less then a second, for the next thing she knew she was thrust into water, cold eating away at her gaping wound that was pressed against smoothed rocks at the riverbed. Blood would be making the river a washed out crimson, and Vitauni, though barely conscience by now, could taste it in her open mouth. She did not pull her head out of the water, though she was not totally submerged as the river was not that deep; her shoulders and hips protruded, holding her in place.
Vitauni had no idea of what happened to Carrico, nor the bear, and had not the right mind to think of such things. Everything was black, dull, even the water rushing past her barely open eyes seemed still as she could not tell right from left and up from down.

OOC
*glomps Carrico and Tauni*
Not sure what the bear should do now, so I'm gonna have him eyeball for other wolves before he tries anything else with Vitauni.
Maybe we can have a Tyjiik thread where the pack takes on the bear? It would be fun for everyone to help kill an enemy and I could RP his death. Maybe he could try to run a few wolves off a kill? Great fun for all.
IC:
The power-driven swipe connected with what felt like a large, furry rock. The satisfying rip of fur reached his ears; so a claw or two had scored her flesh. The wolf's head broke the momentum of his blow and he caught her out of the corner of his eye, flung into the shallows of the river. The other wolf, smaller and untouched, had already flung herself into the cold water as well.
The young male dropped his foreleg back to the rocks and took a hasty step or two in retreat before pausing to reconnoiter. No other heavy footfalls around him, no other wolves springing from the foliage to attack. He knew that a pack lived here and these two were only part of the greater whole. This violent encounter didn't help his case any, either. The snarls, the clattering rocks as the bear charged, the whump of impact, the splashing... others would hear.
These thoughts almost made the bear turn tail and take flight into the forest... that is, until another scent invaded his senses. Copper, metallic, wet, hot... blood. He looked dimly down at the obsidian claws that curved from his paws and caught the rich ruby drops that smeared the tips. That intoxicating reek filled his nasal cavities and went to his head like wine. Black eyes rolled toward the river as his nostrils flared, back toward that wretched wolf who dared to face him, glare at him with its piercing yellow eyes.
His sweeping eyes caught the wolf's black fur protruded from the rush of river water. Incensed with blood lust now, the bear planted one massive foot forward in the rocks, then let his head swing low. A deep growl blasted from his chest cavity and shook the leaves on the surrounding trees.
Let the wolves come.
