Title: Sleeping Positions
Description: ... inquiring minds...

I have been curious as to whether the CPAP machine has changed anyone's sleeping position. I have found that I sleep less on my back these days and I don't sleep on my stomach at all.

I sleep on my side more than anything else. This is perhaps due to the fact that my CPAP hose is more comfortable to me when I sleep on my side.

From time to time, I position two pillows on either side of my head and lay face-down (on my stomach)... this is about 1 night out of 10 or so... not much - usually when I desire a "different" position for variety's sake.

Also of note, is that when I sleep on my side, I tend to "stretch out" my neck (placing my head in the 'leaning back' back position) , so that my windpipe is more straightened as I sleep.

I used to sleep on my side all my life, as soon as I used CPAP I was sleeping on my back, I now realize that without CPAP I would wake myself up because I was not breathing.

I started using a VPAP a year and three month ago and it is like a switch. When I 'hook-up' it's lights out for me and I now sleep on my back. (used to be side to side. I rolled all over the bed) I sleep like a rock now! I wake up in the same possition I layed down and don't move at all. Last week I plum slept thru a severe thunderstorm and didn't know it untill the next morning. My wife was up half the night, worried about tornados....I slept!

Alibahr, are you using the Sullivan VPAP - if so, how do you like it?

Did you use CPAP prior to VPAP, and what kind of difference do you notice?

Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm using a ResMed, but with a FisherPaykel tank because I ran out of water with the ResMed tank. I'm diagnosed with SOSA and been using the VPAP from day one.

Since I haven't used/tryed anything else, this is the best sleep I'm getting in a long time.... :)
