Dirty DME’s I got the report back from my sleep study they put me on level 12 and I have been proscribed Maripex for my RLS. So the first thing I do is call me a new DME and it goes all wrong. They think they can take anybody to the cleaners. First they try to tell me I need to meet a deductible of 1000 dollars. Then they try to tell me I need a new machine. Then they try to tell me I need a tech to come out for a mask fitting.
Being I have had this CFLEX for about three years and I just wanted my level changed with some replacement parts for my mask and my insurance co pay is 10 percent with a max of 1000 out of pocket. Do they even have a clue?
So I gave up on them and went back to the DME that I got the machine from and here we go with them. At first they informed me they had my right address and the right doctor. But that’s where it ends. The DME states I have never had a cpap through them and they can not help me. So I keep fighting with them and with my SS # they find the right information. The DME says that they will change my smartcard setting to 12 for free, WOW something for free. The bad thing is they wanted my phone number. Now I know I should expect sales calls even through I told them NO SALES. I informed the DME I will call them and order what I need do not call me. My doctor even informed me about how bad the DME’s are getting. He said that the DME’s where doing tests behind he’s back and then informing the Doc he needed to sign of on the new equipment.
I think the board should consider coming up with ways of handling are medical providers and how members could save money and but a stop to over spending. When I have a mask and only need replacement parts for it. The DME’s seem to think they should send me another new mask.
