Title: Relief with CPAP?
Description: How long to feel refreshed?

merek - June 5, 2007 04:49 PM (GMT)
Hello!

I'm recently diagnosed with complex apnea (OSA and Central Sleep Apnea), and I've had my machine for almost a week.

I definitely feel a little bit better, but I'm curious about waking up and actually feeling refreshed. It sounds as if some people feel a difference in a few days, and for others it's a few months.

I know it's unscientific, but maybe an average for the board would give a newbie an idea of what to expect.

So how long did it take before you started waking up feeling refreshed? A few days, weeks, months, never?

Thanks!

Hi Merek.

I have OSA and have been on my machine for just about two weeks now. The first day I used the machine I woke up much easier and was much more alert the entire day. I still get a bit sleepy in the early afternoon, but not even close to how I used to be. Every day I seem to feel a little better, but for me, it seems like its a daily progression to recover from probably 10 or more years of not having a good night's sleep.

I started CPAP 4 mos yesterday and I think maybe today was the first time I woke up and actually felt like I had a little bit of energy. The doctor asks me how I am and I have to say, truthfully, awake and exhausted instead of sleepy and exhausted. But today I think I actually feel a tiny flicker of get up and go. I thought it might never happen!
