Title: Strange symptoms with Apnea?
Description: Lack of energy and appetite

Hi everyone,

A little about me first: I am new to the board and fairly new to C-PAP. I've been on the machine now for about 9 months. I was actually diagnosed with a light - moderate case of Apnea from a sleep study in 2003. I am 34 years old, 145-150 lbs. 5'6". I am currently using the ResMed S8 Series C-PAP with a nasal pillow mask which seems to be working out better compared to the nasal face mask. My current pressure is 10.

Anyway, now for the real story.

My general daily schedule is approx 7-8 hours of sleep (with some re-adjustments of the mask during the night). Usually in bed by 10pm and wake around 6am. I am a full time application developer, so I'm pretty much in front of the computer all day. What is very odd is that I still feel pretty much tired all day like my energy is gone even after the 7-8 hours of sleep. I find it hard to concentrate and listen. And almost everyday (to every other day) my appetite seems to drop off by dinner time 5-6 pm and I feel really drained. Sometimes I feel a cross between being hungry and feeling nausea. It's a really weird feeling. I've had some general tests done for thyroid, blood count, etc. which all came back normal. This is a real bear when it comes to Djing weddings during the spring and summer. Most of the time playing the 6 - MID show is dreadful. I'm just really trying to get back my energy. I can't remember the last time I actually woke up so refreshed that I was ready to go.

I was just wondering if anyone else with apnea is experiencing these symptoms? If so, were you able to correct it? If not, perhaps this is some other problem yet to be diagnosed.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear you're having so much trouble, djkewilla. I'm new to the apnea world, but I wonder if you've considered having another sleep study, or getting a CPAP with readout software to determine if you're really treating your apnea?

I hope you find the answer to your situation soon, and start feeling better.

Cathy
