I used a CPAP for mild sleep apnea (setting 8), my doctor says I might benefit more from a dental device (TAP) but my insurance won't pay for it and it cost over $1,000.00.
I was searching the web and came across a site www.nosebreathe.com which is an new applicance made by an orthodontis for mild sleep apnea which is an retainer like device. They send you a kit to make an impression of your mouth and custom make the device from that. It cost $275.00 which is much more affortable. I asked my doctor about it and he said he couldn't recommend it because he wasn't familiar with it, so I would like to know if anyone knows about it and if it really helps for sleep apnea before buying it.
Thanks for any info.
I tried such a device a few years ago. The dentist took an impression of my upper and lower teeth, then constructed a device which could be adjusted, and which was supposed to stop my OSA by pulling my lower jaw forward. It changed the pitch of my snore, but didn't relieve the apnea, and it was very difficult to tolerate. It didn'twork for me.
