Is there anyone out there that has trouble tolerating CPAP? I have been trying to use CPAP for over 2 years now. It seems I wake up several times a night while wearing the mask with a hard time falling back asleep. I have had a few nights 5 or 6 where I used CPAP all night. I use the machine almost every night at some time or another, but when I can not sleep I will take it off and fall right to sleep. My apnea is so severe that I will wake right back up and then I will put the cpap back on and get an hour or two waking back up and laying there again and again. I really need this to work I have found that my RLS will almost go away if I use CPAP. They have also told me that my events go from 40 to 70 per hour to 3 or 4 per hour when I am using the machine. The doctors have given me sleeping pills and other meds to try to help. My apnea was more of a problem about 6 months ago but the doctors changed my blood pressure meds from acupril to benicar, which seemed to really help with the severity. I was taking other over the counter meds to try to get some kinda relief but since they changed my blood pressure meds I have found that I do not need the herbs anymore.

Can you give us a better idea of the specific problem? Are you experiencing mask leaks? Is it difficult to exhale against the pressure?

This is what I think is happening.
I would think it is my O2 level. It seems like I wake up when I put the CPAP on. This is what I know, my O2 level is normaly around 95 in the day time. In the sleep studies my level will drop to the upper 70's. When I use CPAP it seems my levels are in the upper 90's.
Does anybody else have these issues?
I seem to wake up when you use CPAP.
I will skip using CPAP when I first go to bed and fall right to sleep. Being that it only takes a few minutes to wake back up from the severity of the apnea. I will then put the CPAP on and fall a sleep for a few hours and then I will wake up wide awake. I then take the CPAP off for and a few minutes and fall back to sleep to start the hole process over again.
