Title: New To Sleepless Nights
Description: Just a question

cvmallory - August 11, 2006 10:01 AM (GMT)
Hello all. I'm in the process of trying to get some answers for myself. I have a second Dr. visit this week. My question of you all is this. If I have sleep apnea, could that account for waking up from a deep sleep with a racing heartrate? It seems that some of the symptoms I have been experiencing are similar to menopause, which I know I'm in. So now I'm trying to seperate the norm from the new. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I'm 43 and had my first "attack" of the racing heartrate about 6 months ago. Now it's happened 3 other times. I wake up also with a cough, dry throat, and sometimes I feel like I'm choking or not getting any oxygen and that wakes me up because I can't catch my breath. Sweating profusely and being exhausted all the time. My husband just informed me the other day that I've been snoring the last year or so and I never did before, unless I was unusually tired. We've been sleeping in the same bed for 9 years, and now I snore!
Anyway, thanks again.

Welcome to Apnea Board, CV.

Your symptoms do seem to be consistent with a diagnosis of sleep apnea. They sound just like what I went through...er...except for the menopause, that is.

And I used to wake up with a terrible feeling of unspecified dread that I couldn't quite articulate. I would just feel as though something very bad was going to happen.

Why don't you check out this link and decide for yourself?
