I know of no other way to ask this except just saying it, I HATE that thing on my finger during my first sleep study, seriously hook 20 wires upto me and I can roll around fine, that damn thing on my finger was driving me nuts!
I think it checks pulse and oxygen levels or something, can that be hooked anywhere else at all, maybe a toe or anything? I sleep with hands near my face and in general that thing was buggin me bigtime.
Just wondering cuz I am gearing up for 2nd study now that first confirmed i stop breathing at night, trying to figure out what things I can do different or ask about to do different or make different for myself to actually get some sleep on this next study (first one i barely slept) took 2 days to feel normal after that broken 45 mins of sleep, altho i stopped breathing 6 times in that 45 mins so it warranted the 2nd study and cpap etc.

I feel your pain--that pulse-ox finger clip. Having had a number of surgeries and procedures, the only good thing I can say is that they usually knock you out when the finger is about to fall asleep--whether you are or not!
When not being put to sleep, I have changed it from my middle finger to the ring finger, but it is only slightly better!
Imagine my surprise when my sleep lab had a probe that taped onto my finger! :D It was the most comfortable pulse-ox I've experienced, and I am sure it helped me to get a better sleep study both times.
Please do not dismay, if you send me a private message I'll tell you where I went. It may be worth the trip!
You can ask for it to be placed on your toe, or to be taped as Birdshell explained.
Good luck! Carl
