I was wondering what they do when you need surgery, and you have sever apnea?

I think I need to add a little more to the post.
I have had 7 knee surgerys over 13 years ago, I been having problems with it again.
The doctors wont to clean the knee up. So my problem is my apnea has become more sever over the years. At this point in my life I can not sleep on my back at all. I wake up about every minute. I tried CPAP for about a month and with all the problems I had, I gave up on it.
I know I need to treat the apnea so I have made another apointment with a new sleep doctor. It seems I have a real problem with doctors and relationships.
So my question is, has anybody out there had a surgery to where they needed to go under anasteg? Would like to know how they handled the apnea? Also what did they do for pain after the surgery?

I had throat surgery a number of years ago. Local anasthesia was used, and the surgery was painless. Post-operative pain was handled by the use, for a couple days, of hydrocodone. However, this surgery did no good whatever as far as my sleep apnea was concerned. A number of salivary glands were removed; now I have continuous dry mouth and find relief only if I suck on candy or a cough drop. I constantly have the urge to clear my throat. I wish I could have it undone.

I had surgery 1 year ago with general anesthesia, I have severe OSA. They were going to put a tube down my throat for some reason having to do with anesthesia, I kept gagging on the stick with numbing gel on, so they put the tube down my nose after I went to sleep.

I brought my BiPap to use in recovery, but they couldn't use it because I expelled things through my nose, but they insisted I had to use it at night, which I did.
