Title: CPAP machine and inner ear disorders

This may sound wierd but......

I have recently developed symptoms and been diagnosed with a severe inner ear/balance disorder called Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence. The wierd part is that the symptoms began after I started using a cpap machine for sleep apnea.

I stopped using the machine and the symptoms stabilized. I tried to use the machine again, as instructed by my doctors, and within twenty minutes had a severe headache, earache, blurred vision, dizziness and nausea. I stopped using the machine but this time it is not stabilizing. I feel like I am on the teacup ride at Disneyland.

The really scary part is that now I am most likely going to have to have a very invasive brain surgery to correct the problem.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Thank you advance for your responses!

I dont have the same problems using the CPAP as you describe but it is somewhat related.

I had severe diziness about 2-1/2 years ago. At first they told me an inner ear infection was the problem. Well it didnt go away. Several ENT tests later they still cannot put there finger on my dizziness problems exactly. Right now they are saying there may be a possibility I may have mineres disease and have me on Betahistine. I have had several MRI's with no visible problems. The one thing that can out of this is they discovered I had sleep apnea and I am just now getting used to the CPAP machine. I have been using it for about 4 weeks. I tend to take the mask off in the middle of the night and when I dont use it I feel very tired and the dizziness seems to be worse that day. Sometimes even with the mask on all night I dont seem to get a good nights sleep and it reacts as if the mask were off.

The dizziness I have been experiencing is life changing. Driving is a challenge especcially when stopped, the motion keeps going inside. I hope you can figure out your problem and if this sounds somewhat familiar then I hope it helps.

Good Luck
