Title: Sleep Apnea and Weight Gain

I have started snoring terribly in the last year and have also gained 30 pounds. I read somewhere where this may be a result of sleep apnea. Has this happened to anyone else? :(

I gained 30 lbs in the last year also, in addition to the snoring and constant fatigue. I was just tested and found to have severe obstructive apnea and just got my machine yesterday. I talked to the specialist as I had been trying to diet previously to no avail. The sleep specialist told me that weight gain was common as the body is storing energy as I rarely hit REM sleep. I would encourage you to get tested. I have hope now.

I am overweight. I have run into the problem of having to eat to stay awake at work. It turned out that my machine required a pressure increase. Once this was implemented, I had less eat to stay awake situations.
