the winter here's cold, and bitter
it's chilled us to the bone
we haven't seen the sun for weeks
too long too far from home
I feel just like I'm sinking
and I claw for solid ground
I'm pulled down by the undertow
I never thought I could feel so low
oh darkness I feel like letting go

Everyone's heard the legends, the myths. The tales of man turning into beast on the night of the full moon. The thing of it is, these aren't lengends. They're very real. Werewolves, turnskins, shapeshifters... the names are different, but they all mean the same thing. Werewolves have been around nearly as long as human beings, where else would the stories start? Werewolves are people, so obviously, well eventually, they came up with their own form of government... councils really. Two parties formed, those of Gévaudan and those of the Bisclavret. Each of these parties share very different ideals, but one code did seem to make sense to both of them: They needed to remain hidden from human eyes.

The Gévaudan were the harsher of the two parties. They believed that humans were there only as food, they didn't mind losing themselves to the wolf and killing. They had 'cleaners' that went behind them hiding the mess and as far as they were concerned, that was that. The Bisclavret were not so bloodthirsty. They thought that they were placed on the earth with humans to share it, not to take it from them. Humans were there first, after all. The two parties were so divided in their views that eventually they began fighting amongst themselves and civil war broke out. Ending in a stale mate, each side went their separate ways, having their own territories among the humans. The werewolf war did not go unnoticed by humans, but due to their own difficulties and stupidity they just blamed the murders on each other.

Of course not all humans were blind to the werewolf bloodshed. A guild of humans who called themselves The Syndicate banded together in order to defend their race. They hunted werewolves with a prejudicial vengeance not seeing Bisclavret or Gévaudan, only bloodthirsty beasts. They've learned the weaknesses and although not nearly as strong as a wolf, they are more determined which gives them strength. Werewolves tend to live like humans, because most of them started out as humans.

It is now the year 2045, World War III is only just coming to an end and even werewolves are feeling the tension between themselves. They, too, have brothers in the war and have lost many to the human stupidity. The war has also taken a toll on the 'peace' between the Bisclavret and Gévaudan, they seem to be killing each other more often, taking out their anger on each other, their bloodlust almost never being quenched. In the midst of this chaos that people still try and go about their day to day lives, trying to live as normally as they can, but it isn't easy. When the REBEL YELL can be heard from the distance, the battle cry of the wolves, you must fight or take flight because there is no stopping their hunger.
