Title: Your favorite SSC Cartoon
geatornez82 - December 25, 2005 03:36 PM (GMT)
What's your berry favorite SSC cartoon? Mine is The World of Strawberry Shortcake. My second favorite is the Housewarming Surprise (which was the first one I ever saw).
It's funny, really, but I always thought that the World of Strawberry Shortcake was the last in the series, considering where it was on the original tape I had it on. On my original tape, the Housewarming Surprise was first, then Big Apple City, Pets on Parade, the World of Strawberry Shortcake, and the Baby Without a Name. The first time I ever saw the Berrykins one was when I rented it in 1996, but for some reason, I didn't care much for that one.

The World of Strawberry Shortcake is the first one....
My favorite (the only one I ever saw when I was little) is Strawberry Shortcake and The Baby Without a Name. I have Figboot and I was overjoyed to find that they did make a doll of the baby (I discovered 80's SSC on ebay this year (normally I'm just into MLP), now I have Raspberry and Lime and am waiting for Mint in the mail)
I think the real order goes World of Strawberry Shortcake (becuase she still lives in her cake and the sytle is the early one), Big Apple City, Pets on Parade, SCC Meets the Berrykins, Housewarming (becuase in all the ones before this you never see any of her friends from around the world), and then SSC and the Baby Without a Name :)

Actually, the Berrykins came after Baby Without a Name, which was after Housewarming. The correct order of the specials is listed in the actual poll, according to this book I have called "The Encyclopedia of Animated Cartoons."
I said that I THOUGHT that the World of Strawberry Shortcake was the last one when I first saw it, because of the order that I had them on that tape I once had. I didn't find out the correct order until I was much older. The tape I had was from 1984, and for some reason, the channel that my parents taped all the specials on showed them in this order:
Housewarming Surprise (1983)
Big Apple City (1981)
Pets on Parade (1982)
The World of Strawberry Shortcake (1980)
Baby Without a Name (1984)
I never had the Berrykins episode on the tape. It was in 1985, for those who are curious.
To clarify, I honestly thought "World of" was the last one, due to the fact that the Pieman reformed, although I wasn't so sure how to explain the Pieman going back to a villian in Baby Without a Name and the fact the animation changed. I was only two years old when I first saw these.

I can't really say with the others, but I am sure of World Of myself, becuase in Big Apple (I think) SSC says 'I thought you turned good.." or something to that effect and the Pie man luaghs  But don't mind me, The World Of was one of the only ones I saw nalong with BWAN. I thought it was werid how they were drawn in two different sytles...

You're right, but my original tape cut that line for some odd reason. See, my parents taped the first five for me and my sister when they were shown on TV. They did not show them in order, and they edited Big Apple City, for some reason I do not know (keep in mind I was only two years old when I first saw these).

I haven't seen all the vintage cartoons recently, so no vote from me! "SSC in Big Apple City" sounds very interesting to me though...

Well, they took whole songs out of the MLP cartoons when they showed them on tv so they most likely did that for Big Apple to
