What did you people on this board think of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Were they good, bad, cheesy,or too violent?.I think Power Rangers and all it's spin-offs has to be the worst show on TV.But I have to admit back in the day I used to watch it and idolize Trini the yellow ranger which totally scares me. :scary

Don't laugh at me now,I used to own yellow ranger pajamas that glowed in the dark one time in my life too which scares me too. :blush It embarrases me that I loved Trini.

Power Rangers is a rip off of the long time running Japanese TV series Super Sentai.Back in the Summer of 1993,Haim Saban decided to get the rights from Toei animation (Super Sentai company) and make Power Rangers.Saban took the fighting footage from the Japanese series and added American actors when they are not fighting. The difference between Super Sentai and Power Rangers is that Super Sentai is more serious with people dying, poverty, deals with more serious issues than the dumbed down Saban stuff. As Super Sentai in Japan started in 1975 which is way longer than the Power Rangers.Power Rangers just needs to end since the fad ended 10 years ago,but I can see with Super Sentai since it's been running for a long time in Japan. Here's a berry good site with lots of info on Super Sentai.

Super Sentai

I know alot of 80s children whine about Power Rangers ripping off Voltron, but it's not true.Look at the copyright during the credits. They are both done by Toei Animation. ;)

I was probably too old for them when they came out! But, I thought the show was really bad! I didn't like all the "psuedo" fighting/punching stuff they did. All the little kids I knew would be all into that! I think when I saw it, none of the power rangers actually seemed to touch anyone when "fighting" but the kids *did.*

I liked it alot, I wanted to be the pink Ranger and I had a crush on the green ranger (back when he had his dragon, before he became the white ranger)

As for it 'needing to die becuase the fad did' I don't think anything needs to die for that reason. I love pokemon still to this day :)
Power Rangers is'nt so much a rip off as it is a cut and paste show. They take bits and peices of different team shows from japan and put them all under the same name of Power Rangers, refilming the actor parts and dubbing the ranger battles in English. The first series was the best in my opition :).

cheesy and low budget. but my nephew who was probably about 7 at the time loved them. and my mom too. my mom even gave herself the nickname dragon lady, i think it came from one of the characters. lol

All the kids that were about 5-7 at the time (I was a teen already) really like it. I think it was the most popular tv show at the time. I guess I just wasn't ever into the fighting type shows...
