Title: Cabbage Patch Kids
Description: new dolls out?
1u11aby1ambie - December 10, 2004 02:50 AM (GMT)
I saw this new Cabbage Patch doll today at Target & it was really cute! It had an open mouth smile, but the smile was different than most of the ones I had seen. The mouth wasn't so wide and there was like a smaller tongue. Also her eyes were different and she was wearing different clothes. The clothes were a pink dress and vest, but the main thing I remember about the clothes is that she had butterfly hairbows! I really liked her face! I was wishing she was an Asian doll!
So, anyone know if these are a new batch of dolls or if they are older ones?
Berryblue - December 10, 2004 03:10 AM (GMT)
Oh those dolls sound so cute! I especially like the idea of them having "butterfuly hairbows" !! How cute is that?! I will keep an eye out for them. I went to WM tonight and they have absolutely NO Cpk at all! *sigh* They just can't seem to keep them in stock here.
1u11aby1ambie - December 12, 2004 07:41 AM (GMT)
I looked all over ebay to see if I could find any pics of these new dolls, but I didn't find any. So, I went out with my digital camera, so I was able to take a pic of these new dolls at Target. I actually went to a different Target and they had a bunch of them. And OMG!!! Their outfits are soooo pretty!!!
These first 2 are my fave of the ones I saw:

(notice the second one has like a round O-shaped mouth, which I think is new)
This was the same outfit that was on the doll I saw yesterday:

You can't tell in this pic, but she actually has bell-bottoms on!

And this is another new face, which is my fave! This was the face on the doll I saw yesterday. She has an open-mouth smile, but it's more V-shaped/triangular.

Oh... and don't the eyes look shaped differently too??? (There's like more white showing)
berry elvish - December 12, 2004 03:55 PM (GMT)
Bigger, rounder eyes...looking up?...and spring outfits?? I think I might look for one of those for myself over the next couple of months. Now that my Christmas shopping is done...I can do layaway again. :D
I need a cpk in a gorgeous spring outfit with light brown hair and blue/grey eyes...cute face. I think I'll be able to find her.
Did you see any spring boys, Joyce?
1u11aby1ambie - December 15, 2004 08:23 AM (GMT)
No, I didn't see any spring boys. I didn't even see any "ethnic" girls either, so those must be coming out later. I think the outfits on these new dolls are waaaaay cuter than some of the earlier ones, and I love their little butterflies!
So, I guess I might end up with 2 new CPKs if I find an Asian one in the butterfly outfit with the new open mouth smile! LOL
1u11aby1ambie - January 11, 2005 04:12 PM (GMT)
I'm feeling a little CPK-obsessed now! I discovered they're selling CORNSILK dolls in the new butterfly outfits!! OMG! If I find an Asian Cornsilk CPK that would be too awesome!!!
berry elvish - January 11, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
LOL!! Have you seen the new outfit sets for sale? I didn't see any spring ones or any of the strawberry overalls, but I did see a 'picnic' set and a ballerina set that I can remember off the top of my head. I saw some cpk dolls with glasses on their heads...are those supposed to be sunglasses? The cornsilk kids are bigger right???
wonderberry - January 11, 2005 04:47 PM (GMT)
those pictures are great Joyce!!! I especially love the last one... with the V shaped grin... that is the most adorable face!!! BTW, LOL you're in Target taking pictures of all the dolls! that's great! I really want one with that new face though! it's so baby-cute looking! did they always have eyelashes? the eyes don't look set in so far as the others, and her cheeks are so rosy! I want one! :bigbird
Berryblue - January 11, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
OMG How did I miss this thread?!?!
I am just stunned at how gorgeous those butterfuly outfits are!
I really love the dresses and either one too! lol The second pic down is probably my favorite but the first one in the yellow is just unbelievable too.
I am so glad I haven't caved yet because I'd much rather have one of the new ones. Now, with your talk about the cornsilk dolls too! OMG And Asian one in a butterfly dress...* gasp* *cough*
Thanks for posting those pics for us, Joyce. I haven't seen any of them yet but hopefully since we are getting a new BIGGER WM on the 27th, I will start seeing some new stuff. :D
1u11aby1ambie - January 11, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
No, I haven't seen the new outfits yet, but I also heard that they have new CPK ponies?? I have wanted one of those CPK show ponies for the longest time, so maybe I'll get one of those new ponies!
I don't know if the cornsilk ones are bigger, but they were in the exact same size boxes as all the others, and I didn't realize at first that there was a whole new set of cornsilk dolls (it says cornsilk on the boxes). I only noticed the box said cornsilk after I was thinking that some of the new spring outfit dolls were made with cornsilk hair!
I would LOVE an asian cornsilk with that new smile though!! I looked on ebay & I only saw Asian cornsilks with super curly hair, which seems really wrong, IMHO! But, I might not mind long wavy hair. I've always wanted curly hair myself! (That Asian mini I got has long wavy hair.)
OH! I also saw some nightmarish looking CPKs when I was home over Christmas. I know that they make the dolls have rosy cheeks & most of the time I like the ones with rosier cheeks, but the dolls I saw looked like they got into Mommy's make-up... it was way too red! I hope it was just the lighting. LOL
berry elvish - January 11, 2005 07:34 PM (GMT)
You mean they are producing new corn silk kids in the same box as the other new dolls??? OH!! That is awesome, then I may be able to afford one some day, LOL I also want the perfect hair, eyes and face. I would LOVE a corn silk kid, I always wanted one when I was young.
The ones I thought you were talking about were those 'kids' that I saw TRU, they sit in the cabbage shaped box and they have corn silk hair. I'm always tempted to buy the Asian ballerina or the Asian in the lavendar sheer dress...*sigh* but those cost more than these new ones.
Berryblue - January 12, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
Man, you girls talk about all this CPK that you have seen and I have only seen the real basic "regular" sized ones!! Wahhhhhhhhh :(
lol
1u11aby1ambie - January 12, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
Yes, the new cornsilk kids are in the same size boxes as the others. BUT, I heard that Walmart is charging MORE for them than the regular CPKs, but they are all $29.99 at Target! Cornsilk hair is soooo nice! I'm glad that they will be affordable!! But, I found out that they are not making cornsilk dolls with that new face I like. Argh! They should've made them in all the different faces!! :(
But, they do have them with the same face as the CPK I already got.
As far as I can tell, the cornsilk hair styles are
really curly,
straight,
multiple twisted braids,
wavy, and then
2 pony tails with curly hair at the ends only.
Oh Mel... I think those were glasses for the CPK you saw (not sunglasses).
They also have boy cornsilks!
wonderberry - January 12, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
yeah, I've seen the cornsilk CPKs at our Target, and they're the same price as the regulars... but none of them have cute hair! One of the cornsilks has dark brown hair at the roots that's choppy, with light blonde hair in pigtails at the top... and it really looks horrible!! I can't believe they'd do the two-tone hair coloring... and so drastically!
I haven't heard of the CPK ponies... I can't wait to see what those look like!
oh, and Joyce (I'm not sure where the post is... and I'm too lazy to look so I'll just put it here) thanks for showing me that auction with the CPK book (showing the villians). I won that auction, and I got the book in the mail earlier this week. It's from the 80's, but it looks brand new! it's hardbound too. it's in really great condition... and I was misspelling bullweasel! it's Beau Weasel... LOL... and now I know what he looks like! I'm so glad you showed me!
1u11aby1ambie - January 12, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah!! I'm glad you got the book in the auction! And in such great condition too! So, now you have pictures to go with the characters!
OH... I think the hair isn't really mismatched, but that they have hairpieces attached to the hairbands?? Maybe that's what you're seeing??
Mel... was it the
"tea for two" set you saw (the one you called "picnic")? From the looks of it, it seems to be made with strawberry fabric (like the t-shirt from the strawberry overalls)? It looks adorable!!
All the separate outfits can be seen here:
http://www.cabbagepatchkids.com/pages/gift...gallery-01.htmlThe cornsilk kids are also on cabbagepatchkids.com, but they don't show the straight hairstyle or the 2 ponies with curly ends.
http://www.cabbagepatchkids.com/pages/gift...S/PAL_Kids3.htm
berry elvish - January 13, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
Joyce, my mistake, it was totally the Gardening one that I saw, but if I see that tea for two one, I will have to full on restrain myself from buying that!
1u11aby1ambie - January 13, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
I think I'm probably going to be getting the tea for two outfit for my CPK! It's cute how it comes with the tea set (although I think the outfits would be half that price if it didn't have that!)
wonderberry - January 13, 2005 03:34 PM (GMT)
I'll have to take my camera to the store and snap a picture of the one I saw... Hopefully they still have it. I'll look at it more carefully. I really want to buy another one though with that new face. I've been thinking about it for days!
1u11aby1ambie - January 14, 2005 04:32 PM (GMT)
I guess some of the new cornsilk kids come with skinny side braids or bangs attached to the headband/bandanas they are wearing. The braids seem OK, but BANGS??! And the hair colors don't always match!
I wanted to get a cornsilk with bangs... but I guess I need to be really careful I don't get one with fakey bangs!!
OK... this girl has blonde hair but fake dark hair braids:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5550278963&rd=1And you can see the fake dark bangs on this doll:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5549654709&rd=1
Berryblue - January 14, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
The first one with the skinny braids attached isn't too bad but that last one with those fakey bangs are atrocious!! *tsk tsk*
1u11aby1ambie - January 15, 2005 06:42 PM (GMT)
Avon has Cabbage Patch babies (cornsilk!)
http://shop.avon.com/avonshop/product.asp?...nd_spec=cabbage patch
(I hope that works)
wonderberry - January 15, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
wow! too bad they only have the blonde one left! how cool that you found that... you're the CPK pro, Joyce! :girlie
berry elvish - January 16, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Saw the tea party outfit at Target for ten dollars...still debating on weather to buy it or not. :momo
1u11aby1ambie - January 16, 2005 04:09 PM (GMT)
I didn't see any of the separate outfits, and I was really hoping to see that Tea for Two outfit!! I'll have to check out a few more stores today...
And I only saw 1 Asian cornsilk kid. I didn't like the face or the clothes (it was a blue/green polkadot outfit) on it either. ~sigh~
I did see one cornsilk CPK that I really liked though! She had darker blue eyes and cute pink blushing (and it was my fave face style) & her outfit just went so nice with her. She had blue pants the same color as her eyes and the top was pink/blue floral. It just looked so nice on her. She had very curly blond hair. So, I think the blue pants with floral top is my fave outfit. I also like the blue satin dress.
I did see the CPK ponies & they were kind of bigger than I expected and not as cute as the vintage show ponies, so I don't think I'll be getting that.
And Melanie... I saw a girl in the Strawberry outfit named Melanie and totally thought of you!! She had my fave face & had bangs too. LOL
berry elvish - January 16, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
Oh, how CUTE! I would love to have a cpk with my name, LOL. Oh, I saw a dark blond boy with blue eyes (I need a dark blond with blue/grey eyes) and he was cute and his birthday was close to mine and his name was Ryder Michael! LOL I did consider buying him because these corn silk kids are so cute! but, I really like the spring outfits the best! I kind of also want freckles on my cpk cuz I do have freckles.
1u11aby1ambie - January 16, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
LOL... I'm trying to decide what my "perfect" cornsilk doll would be...
On ebay, I found:
#1 My fave face asian with wavy hair, straight bangs & blue satin dress
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5550725213&rd=1#2 straight hair, no bangs & floral top/blue pants
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5550163615&rd=1#3 asian with straight hair, bangs, 6 twisty braids & floral dress
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5551078401&rd=1So, I think I want something like first doll, with one of these 3 hair styles or one of these 3 outfits. I think my fave hair and outfit are #1 and #2. I'd like straight hair with bangs, so I can't make up my mind if I rather have straight hair, no bangs, or bangs with wavy hair. That's why there's choice #3... but I don't know what the hair would look like if I take out the twists!
What do you think?
Mel... when you say "dark blonde" hair... is it this color? or is it lighter? (hmmm... maybe this is light brown...)
berry elvish - January 16, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
Joyce that cpk is nearly perfect...she kind of looks like she's straining, so I'd want a more jovial face, but I think that hair color is perfect...so either a dark blond or a super light brown. I've never been certain between the two shades myself. I just figured I would know my cpk when I saw him/her!
I also really like the braids on the third cpk! How cute and they are pretty unique, but I would totally leave them in and not ever take them out. I had a bad experience with my childhood cpk when my frenemy, Marcy, talked me into taking out her perfect pony tail braids and I could never get them right again. Ever.
1u11aby1ambie - January 17, 2005 12:07 AM (GMT)
I believe that "dark blonde" CPK has a 2 dimple smile. The only Asian cornsilk I saw had the same outfit and face, but the hair was in the twisty braids. I also don't care for that face too much.
I'm less excited about the twisty braid cornsilk mostly because Beth's hair is the yarn version of it & I'd like something different. But, I think that would be a hairstyle that would stay neat, as long as you didn't take them out! I imagine the wavy hairstyle could get really messy and knotted. But it looks nice in the box. LOL So, maybe I answered my own question... my #1 choice for hair on an Asian cornsilk would be the straight, no bangs.
I think this face is kind of cute... with the 2 bottom teeth (I believe this is a new one):
berry elvish - January 17, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
I love the shirly temple curls on that cpk, I've seen a lot of those recently. Okay, so I've seen maybe ten corn silk kids all together, but most of the girls I have seen have had that curly style. Oh, I saw an earlier post of yours showing the two different hair colors on the cpk...WTF?? That is just so wrong.
1u11aby1ambie - January 17, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
I like the curly hair too, but I don't think it looks so nice on Asian kids.
This was the CPK I saw yesterday which I thought was soooo cute (that's not the best pic... because she has clear round glasses too!) I probably would've bought it if I wasn't looking for an Asian kid. I really was tempted anyway:

LOL... I don't know what they were thinking with the 2 toned hair! Luckily, they are only attached to the headbands. But, I think the fake bangs are really terrible! In those couple pics I posted, they have the skinny side braids, and they aren't too noticeable. The fake hair is the same on all of the same outfits (did that make sense?)... I mean that if you see fake skinny braids that are blonde with a particular outfit... every doll wearing that outfit will have skinny braids that are blonde. And if one outfit has brown fake bangs... every doll with that oufit will have brown fake bangs. So, the hair might match on some dolls... but NONE of them match Asian dolls because I think none of the fake hair pieces are black.
1u11aby1ambie - January 19, 2005 12:59 AM (GMT)
I went out looking at Cabbage Patch Kids at more stores, and I didn't see ANY Asian kids! So, out of a total of 6 stores (3 Targets, 3 Toys R Us), I only saw one Asian & I didn't like it. I was told that there is only 1 Asian per box of 8 cornsilks, but it seems like so much less than that... unless they are all being bought up.
I saw the Tea for Two outfit and I couldn't resist so I ended up buying it!! The tea set is so cute, but I really wish they also sold the outfits without the teaset. If I got my Asian cornsilk, I'd like another outfit (so they could match), but I wouldn't really want another tea set! I thought the gardening outfit was cute too... I might end up getting that later!!
Oh yes... Mel... I paid attention to the hair colors when I was out... and the "dark" blonde does look like blonde more than a light brown in the store. It's kind of a golden blonde rather than a lightest blonde.
berry elvish - January 19, 2005 04:11 AM (GMT)
So, Joyce, you're saying that the cpk with the long pony tails in your post has light brown hair? I think I'll probably be on the look out for a doll very similar to the one you posted then. She is cute! I'd like her to be a Gemini though. :b
1u11aby1ambie - January 19, 2005 10:58 AM (GMT)
Mel... I think the doll with the long ponytails has "dark blonde" hair... but it looks like golden blonde in person (more than in that photo... which seems darker than it would in real life?).
You are going to think I am a total geek because I actually took a picture of light blonde, dark (or "golden") blonde and light brown hair dolls all next to each other. I wanted to see how they all compared in a photo vs. what I remember in real life. LOL
Berryblue - January 19, 2005 07:23 PM (GMT)
Man, there are soooo many options to weigh! That's probably what makes them so fun (and ADDICTIVE...lol!) to collect
berry elvish - January 19, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
That's right, Erin. I love collecting toys...I love setting them up for display the most!
Joyce, I want to see your cpk nerd picture. :P :hkhappy
1u11aby1ambie - January 20, 2005 01:09 AM (GMT)
Ok... you asked for it! ^_^

The doll on the right has the same color hair in both pics.
BTW, most of the dolls I'm seeing don't have freckles.
Oh... I also took the pictures because the outfits for the golden blonde dolls have braids which are golden blonde. In case you wanted to make sure the fake hair was the same color!
1u11aby1ambie - January 20, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
BTW, Mel... Beth is a Gemini!! I'm trying to see if I can find a trade birth certificates with someone else who has a Beth who is a Scorpio (although any Oct or Nov b-day would be fine with me too).
1u11aby1ambie - January 25, 2005 07:03 AM (GMT)
Just an update! Here are the hair colors for all the cornsilks:
light blonde
golden blonde ("dark" blonde)
strawberry blonde
red/auburn
medium brown/chestnut
dark brown
black (only on asian, african american & I think hispanic dolls)
I'm not sure I've ever seen a strawberry blonde doll in person!
berry elvish - January 25, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm not sure which hair color I would need still, LOL! I tend to think the medium brown one...this is the first time my hair has been it's natural color in over fifteen years! It is kind of a very dark blond...close to being brown, I'm still thinking I'll know my cpk when I see her/him. I am definitely looking for freckles and blue/grey eyes though. It looked like the girl with the long blond pony tails had freckles to go with her dimples. I've seen the matching hair color braids also. It's just that most of the stores I've looked at have only about four cornsilk kids out at a time...so who knows how long it will be before I see one for me. *sigh* Naw, I don't mind waiting as long as they are not going to disappear from the shelves never to return.
Joyce, I like your cpk geek picture. :D The jean and flowers outfit with the bandana is my favorite so far. I also like the blue and sea green (almost corduroy look) outfit.
Shellberry Shortcake - January 25, 2005 04:36 PM (GMT)
OMG!!!! Those are all soo cute!!
I really need to get me one--especially now that the cornsilks are out...
