Title: 80s Cpk Christmas Special Synopsis
Description: I actually remembered this too!

OMG everyone!

Last week, I finally sat down with that old copy of vintage cartoons and watched 4 or 5 of them! One of which was the Cabbage Patch Kids Christmas special. It was so neat to see again. It opens with the stork (I forget what his name is but I will watch again and take notes! lol) flying with a new arrival to the Cabbage Patch. There is a clubhouse where the CPK live and the only human that knows about them (besides the villain, that is) is Xavier Roberts (of course) :hemanwink

They introduce each of the kids and one in particular plays a role in the storyline, a redheaded, freckle faced girl with a hyphenated first name (I'll get that name for you! lol) They want to go to the big city where they have never gone before and just after the stork warns them to be careful, they are off.

In between scenes, we are then introduced to the villains... an old lady and a weasel who want to capture the kids to force them to work in the coal mines.
Of course, they bump into the villains in the city but they also bump into a poor young couple who yearn for children and a daughter exactly like the redheaded CPK. The man accidentally drops his wallet and CPK try to give it to the man but he is far away by now and the villains are chasing them!

So, they run and come across a little girl who lives at the "Children's Home" who is all alone decorating a coatrack like a Christmas tree. All the other kids in the home are off with foster parents or have been adopted but she is left behind because she is handicapped (with a prosthetic) but she also happens to have red hair and lots of freckles like the redheaded CPK :) You see where this is going...

They end up catching up with the couple and returning the wallet with the girl's help and the couple adopts the little girl and also the CPK! :D

Ahhh memories! The underlying theme, you wonder? Everyone is different and that is what makes them special! :)

That sounds soooo cute! I would love to see all the old CPK cartoons! I vaguely remember it and it would be so neat to see.

I have a VHS copy of those CPK movies that are like real dolls. I remember on tv, my mom and brother were watching something like that and I came in the room and they knew I would like it because it looked like CPK dolls (I'm not really sure that tv show I saw was CPK... we don't know what it was called, but it probably was). I remember being so mesmerized by it! Anyway, years later, I found the VHS of the CPK movies which reminded me of that tv show, so I got them!

OMG that is so cool! I just love watching vintage cartoons. I was really surprised that I actually remembered the cartoon (especially the opening with the stork flying with the new arrival!) LOL
I am going to see if I can get it made into a digital copy. I will keep you posted :hemanwink

Cool beans! I seem to remember the Stork too, but the rest doesn't sound familiar...I might be thinking of a Stork from some other show. I hope you get it made to a digital recording, Erin. How cool!

I have the orginal video of A CPK Christmas from when it was released on video. Too bad the case for it is missing though. And yes it's a cartoon. :hug

Yep! Cartoon, which I LOVE :love
I think you should have a copy of this Joyce...we'll have to get a copy to you. It wouldn't be that great since it's a VHS though :)

oh, I would love a copy of this! I hope you can make it digital!!! I would love to see it! I have a CPK Christmas CD, and I love the songs! My favorite is sung by the villians... they're trying to steal presents from the CPKs, but when they grab the gifts, they see that they're for the villians anyways... so they're upset singing, "When it comes to Christmas, our happy days are through, cause there ain't no gimme-gimme take-take when they're giving things to you!"

That sounds soooo cute!!!! :cpk :hug :cpk

Is your Christmas CD all songs or like stories with songs in it?

Berryblue - August 29, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
LOL I forgot about that song! LOL

I will have to see what I can get done with it. I would be best if I could get it in a digital format since that way it can be better preserved too.

Ahhh, one of my all time favorite Christmas cartoons! I actually have my original tape with this special on it. It was taped off the air in I think 1984, on Beta, but my dad copied it to VHS for me back in 1995.
