Hi everyone,
There is a toy I used to play with in the early 1980s whose name I forget. I want to see if there are ones up for sale on eBay but don't know what to search for!
Here is the description:
- It was a kind of fake television screen/computer monitor
- You rotated this knob on the side which wound it up and caused an animation to appear.
- The animation was a series of pixelated patterns and images on a black background.
- I can't remember if it used a battery, but it certainly did not need to be plugged in.
- I remember it making this distinct noise (it had nothing to do with the animation: probably just the noise of the rotation). By the end of the animation both the noise and speed of the images would slow down.
- You could control the animation's speed/sequence by turning the knob backwards/forwards (it probably wasn't good for the toy, but I did it anyway. I was only 5!)
If anyone has an inkling as to what this is, have a name, a lead, have any extra information (like how did it work???) or even just a shared memory, please respond! I'm really curious! Thank you.
Moving this over to the 80s questions section for you! *wink wink* (Welcome to Toyland, btw)
:momo Look at the forum "Toychat:Beyond the 80's and there will be your answer. There is a link regarding Kenner movie projector and that sounds like what you were looking for. Hoped this helps! :carebear
