Well, I just finished design school and are saving up my money so that I can move to a big city, and get involved in toy design. Concepts and packaging... I am crazy for 80s girly toy packaging!!! I must make connections inside of Mattel or Hasbro. :cheesecake

I'm about to graduate this December with a B.S. in psychology. I'd like to do social work helping kids, or maybe counseling at camps or after school programs. I minored in English, & I'd love to try a hand at writing children's books. I love to write. :sun

wow, those are interesting jobs!!! I work in booking and releasing in the county jail... so I don't do anything fun. :( Unless smelling drunk and dirty prisoners defecate in their pants all day is considered fun. LOL

RainbowBriteRox81 - October 10, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
Wonder, your job may not have glam, but it is admirable IMO. How'd you end up working there?

:smurfywink

mary - October 10, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
well, i think most of you know. i work in an animal shelter, it's very interesting all types of characters walk in. also quite a few non high profiled celebrities come in. it is extremely stressful and emotionally difficult to deal with sometimes you just wanna beat the crap out of some of the people leaving their animals. and the worst part is all that ***dam politicing i'm not into that or sucking up. its very irritating and the executive management which is a fairly new team completely sucks the guy does nothing but pat himself on the back etc, etc, etc.
heh heh sorry for the little gripe, i have been there a long time

wonderberry - October 10, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
I actually have a bit of family working in the jail also... including my husband. it's okay... interesting somedays... other days it's just sad to see how so many people throw their lives away.

mary, I know it must be rough working in the animal shelter at times, but it's good to know there are people like you who care enough for animals and are willing to help and try finding homes for them. :clap

RainbowBriteRox81 - October 11, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
Oh, I bet it's interesting to work with your hubby. :poochie

I agree with Wonder, Mary. I love animals, and it makes me happy to know that people like yourself are out there pulling for them in any way necessary. I personally couldn't do it because I'd get emotionally attached. :love

mary - October 11, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
awww thanks guys its great its hard when you get attached so unfortuneatly i don't anymore otherwise i would be an emotional wreck
wonderberry i think your job is interesting getting a look on the inside, i can picture you in your uniform now roughing up the bad guys lol. everyones career is interesting and fun in its own way. what do you do lullibye lambie and rollchan?

RainbowBriteRox81 - October 12, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
I'm glad you can do that, Mary. I'm sure it makes your job that much easier.

Oh, btw, in reference to your sig: My fiance', whom I'll join in TN after graduation, is looking into adopting a puppy. We had to give our 3 furbabies up when he relocated there for work because neither of us had room at our new places. (I'm back at my Mom's until Dec.) But he found another place with a spacious backyard, and his roommate has a dog, so they could keep each other company. Eventually, I'd like to adopt a small breed dog, maybe a Jack Russell terrier.

mary - October 14, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
jack russell's are high strung, get ready for that they are psycho dogs, if you have any breed questions you can pm me, 'cause i don't want this post to go off topic

berry elvish - October 15, 2005 05:28 PM (GMT)
 Ya'll could start a new 'dog breed' topic, cuz I'd be interested in reading that! I may just go start one for you! :hemanwink

I don't have a career. I don't want a full time job...ever. I would like to have a decent paying and fun part time job though. Any suggestions? I am considering quitting my job at Movie Gallery so that I can go to night classes in the Spring. I just haven't decided on a 'career goal' so I wouldn't know what classes to take. I'm so bad at making decisions!

mary - October 18, 2005 03:00 PM (GMT)
berry elvish, what is it that your interested in? or passionate about? maybe you can make a career out of it.

berry elvish - October 19, 2005 04:26 PM (GMT)
Hey, Mary. I like to stay at home. I have three children, pets and a husband and anytime I have to leave my house for any reason, I feel like I don't have enough time to get anything done. I also have ADHD, which makes it very hard for me to manage my time. So, at the moment, I find it barely tolerable to have a pt job at Movie Gallery. I would most definitely have to trade in my job at MG for school, since doing both would keep me out of my home too much. My youngest daughter is 3 so until she starts going to school full time, I'm limited to an evening hours job/classes. Okay so with those particulars in mind that might help you see how my situation is. :D

When I graduated high school I enrolled full-time in the jr college intent on going there taking generalized studies with an empasis on the sciences for two years then I wanted to transfer to Cal-State-somewhere to continue at the higher level. My main interest was in Oceanography. I wanted to be a marine biologist, working with an environmentalist's attitude. That didn't pan out and though I did end up going to school with a major in biology, I didn't complete college. I went again and switched my major to ART. I love art. I like to draw, paint, handbuild with clay, you name it! I would love to play the piano and the guitar. I've always had an interest in art, but have been too afraid to do anything about it. So, if I had no other worries in life, I'd go to school to learn how to draw and paint and make things. I don't care about a degree of any kind, it's just something I want to do.

I also used to entertain the thought of doing activist work. When I was much younger I always thought that with a degree in Oceanography I could get a job for a company that I believed in, like Greenpeace. That would have been ideal. Now, I'm a little too tired in my life and don't have the energy I did when I was younger, so I don't give that dream much thought. But, I'd love to do something locally. I absolutely love animals and most environmentalist causes. I do support some things financially as much as I am able, but nothing beats hands-on support, you know? I don't care about being wealthy.

Man, I do go on, don't I? LOL Sorry about that. ;)

:D I can definitely relate to that. I love helping others in any way I can. It makes me feel good about myself knowing that I've done something worthwhile for someone/something I believe in.

My job is nowhere as interesting as some of you guys. I work for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, doing data entry. It's very boring, and very tedious, but there's not much I can do about it. I can't tell you anymore because of security reasons.

ZipperCat - October 21, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
I'm the cleaner at a local branch of a leading UK cycling and motoring supplies store.

Of course, she could tell us everything but then she'd have to kill us....:evil

LOL! I kind of feel the same way. In science, you aren't supposed to "leak" information around about your actual research in the fear that you'll get "scooped."
