Title: Need Help Finding a Toy
Description: Flufalop?
b7w - September 7, 2005 11:46 PM (GMT)
Hello,
I am trying to find a stuffed animal that my girlfriend had as a
child. I would really prefer that someone set me straight on what
exactly I am looking for, but if you have one and it might be
available, that would be awesome! Here is what she has described to
me. First, it is a stuffed elephant. I get the impression that she
had it somewhere between the years of 1983 and 1993. It was somewhat
patchwork, but it was made out of "real" fabric. She says that she
thinks it was called a "Flufalop". In looking the closest thing I
have come up wth is a Puffalump, and when I have shown them to her,
she has said that they were sort of like what she had, but not
really. The other thing is, she says that at one time her best
friend had a tee-shirt with a picture of the dog "Flufalop" on it and
that there is a picture with the friend wearing the tee-shirt
somewhere (but I have yet to see it). My girlfriend says that she
thinks it was made by some major toy brand but she is not sure which
one. Anyway, that is all of the information that I "know". Any help
would be greatly appreciated and possibly even rewarded depending on
how good the information is. Thanks in advance for any help that you
can give.

Hey, hi, and welcome! I moved your topic over here because I feel it'll get more action. This is the forum to get your toys identified. :D
Hmmm, Puffalump was a good guess. I have to ask a couple more questions concerning this elephant. Did it 'do' anything? Turn inside out, come with markers, have a squeezable tummy, etc.?

Berry,
Thanks for your help so far (moving me to the correct place that is). I will try to find out if the elephant did anything when I talk to her later in the evening.

:clap The only thing I thought of right away was the Heffalump elephant from Winnie the Pooh. I know they made plushies of him. Most likely if you provide a pic or more details of it, someone on here will figure it out. Good Luck! :woodpink

Hey all,
Sorry it has been a while, it has been a busy couple of weeks. Sorry for the disjointed thoughts below, I got her to describe it to me and was trying to get as much down as possible.
Here is more info - each leg was a different color, Eyore-like tail, pretty small, the eyes were embroidered, the patchwork fabrics matched, the fabric was made of cotton, trunk was curled upwards, it was colored pink (mauve?), (purple maybe), and blue, but not pastel colors, 4 strings of pink yarn hair, there were patterns as well as areas that were all one color. In general, the group of animals had longer legs. Besides an elephant, there was at least a giraffe, a cat, and a bunny. She says you could have given it to an infant because there were no hard pieces.
She said it did not do anything, it just sat around and looked cute. :D
This may be a dumb question, but the way she describes it, I almost think it sounds like some of the animals that show up on the background of this site on the right side of the page. What are those, could it be that the elephant is one of those?
Thanks in advance for any help that you can give.

Those are Popples on the background... none of those are elephants, and they were made of "fur" type fabric.

Hi there! Welcome to 80s Toyland, btw :wave
I have been searching around for you and will post when I come across something similar. I seem to vaguely remember some plushes like the ones you are describing. It sounds like a toy that my younger siblings probably had. Off to look around some more...lol :D

:grover ok here is what I noticed about the first posting....she says that it is an elephant but also says that her friend had a shirt with a "dog" on it....something similiar to "flufalop" The only thing that I could think of would possibly be a fluppy dog from the 1980s. :afro I do know that they had clothing with fluppy dogs on them. :kitty Please everyone reread the original posting. I just noticed that first they were talking about an elephant then the posting said "the dog" in it. :carebear thanks!
also, regarding elephants, I found something called a snuzzle which was made by playskool that may be it.

I was thinking Fluppy Dogs too. There was a cartoon about them, and they may have had 'cousins' like an elephant and giraffe. The thing that was throwing me off originally was that it is an elephant. But, now that we know it had some yarn hair, I'm thinking it may have been Fluppy Dogs or related to them. However, they do have
a lot of yarn on them.
Puffalumps was my first choice, but I think I read that those were already vetoed. So, definitely check out
Wuzzles and let us know. :D

That's what I was getting thrown off by too---the ELEPHANT
All that kept popping in my mind was Fluppy Dogs too or Puffalump.

I definantly do not think it was a Wuzzle. I also think that fluppy dogs may have too much hair to be it either. I don't suppose there were earlier versions of Puffalumps were there? It seems like all that I can find have been made recently. There was one thought my girlfriend had in my last post that I thought might be the key to finding something, the crocheted (I think that is the correct spelling) eyes. Does any body know of anything like that? It seems like even back then, most eyes were the harder kind. Any ideas?

Yes they did. There was an elephant and a moose. However the elephant was grey, not multicolored.
