Title: OT I got a job!
Description: Holy Crap.
berry elvish - July 26, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
 I'm terrified, today is my first day.
It's at the Movie Gallery (I'm a Customer Service Associate). I'll be learning the ropes this evening until closing time. So, it's a movie rental store and it's a job that I'm sure that I'll enjoy, but I haven't worked in about five years. I'm scared.
Anyway, I just needed to get that out. :blush

Thanks. :) I had a panic attack before I left for work, was late on my first day, but it ended up being a fine evening. At least they didn't fire me, LOL And I will work again tonight and again on Friday.

berry elvish - July 28, 2005 04:40 AM (GMT)
Thank you, thank you, thank you, and I will Rollchan! I've been trying to memorize what's on the shelves (and where!), but that's kind of tough. :)
Erin, I really wasn't looking for a job, but they had an opening and they hire part time, so I thought it couldn't hurt to apply. And voila! I am now among the working class.
I do like my job and I hope that I get to keep it for some time. :)

Hey, I got one too!!!
I haven't worked for over 7 years. I got a part time job at Northern Reflections. For you Americans, it's a Canadian owned ladies clothing store. They are in New york state though.
I'd love to work at a movie rental place. Or a pet shop.
Have fun.

i'm glad you like youre job,its not too often people do. purplestar i hope if you work in a pet store it will be one that does not sell dogs or cats but promotes adoption.

Oh, for sure. I probably won't get a job in a pet shop. I don't drive so I need a job close to home. There aren't too many around here that actually sell animals, I meant a pet supply store (there is one on the corner near my house). The lady that manages it is a big supporter of the humane society.
Anyways, if i'm going to buy a small animal I usually go to Petsmart, as for cats/dogs, I'm full up. I'm not getting any more pets for a while. Joey is not a fan of animals in the house. I have plenty, including 2 strays that I "saved".
I participate in the Windsor Humane Society walk a thon. It's a really fun fundraiser. Everybody brings their dogs and there are all kinds tents with exhibits and free stuff. I love seeing all the different kinds of doggies. Last year I didn't have my Axl yet, so I was the only person there without a dog!

Sooo Mel dear! How are things going out there in the working world?
mary - August 8, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
yeah so how is the job working out
berry elvish - August 8, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)
It's okay. I suppose it's my ideal part-time job. I basically just have to be friendly and know how to alphabatize, which I am and do! LOL It's very low pressure and I think I have most of it down, like learning the computer and how to get to different menus and screens. The interraction with the customers part is the part that scared me the most and that has turned out to be very easy. Thanks for asking. :D I did manage to get in 15 hours last week, but I have yet to see a paycheck. I'm not sure if it's been sent or not, and it didn't show up in my bank account or on my mega pay card...so I don't know what is going on with that.
wonderberry - August 9, 2005 01:24 PM (GMT)
I used to work in a pet shop! and no, they did not sell dogs or cats! but I have been bit by every animal imaginable... rats, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, bearded dragons, geckos, heck - even fish! (although they more or less sucked on my finger since they don't really have the teeth to bite). I stunk after work, but it was still one of my favorite jobs! :D

Melanie-- I'm glad the job is working out for you!
BTW, Cindie... there was a lake where I used to go swimming... when I was just sitting in the water in the shallow portion... there was a fish that came up and bit my elbow!
