Description: I hope this is the right spot for this!

I put pics of my CPKs up on my website! And the fabric in the background is the one I plan on using to make their custom dresses:
my CPKs

BTW, were CPKs a girl toy or for both? I know they are a doll, but I wasn't sure where to put this topic!

wonderberry - October 26, 2004 01:32 PM (GMT)
LOL!!!!!! you posed them sooooooo cute!!!!! what a riot Joyce! I love the lamb sleeper! and the one falling down! I laughed! those are really cute, you did a great job!

oh, and CPKs were for both boys and girls. All the boys in my 3rd grade class had CPKs too! :cheesecake

I forgot to post here after I went to your site Joyce! I love how you always set up story-board type of stuff with your pictures. And your cpk are so cute! Andrea is the cutest!!

Yep, they were for both boys and girls. I remember boys had them too. It was like the first doll that boys were allowed to play with. :D

Berryblue - October 26, 2004 05:43 PM (GMT)
I loved looking at your pics Joyce! OMG
They are all so so cute and the girls are just beautiful!
That lamb outfit is SO adorable! :D I just love them!
You did a really great job setting the page up too. It looks great!

And yes... CPK were definitely for both boys and girls. I remember my older brother actually having one in a sporty type outfit. My grandma still has it in perfect condition.

Thanks for sharing that with us! :D

Thanks everyone! I did think CPKs were for both boys and girls, but I couldn't remember any boys that actually had one, so I wasn't sure. The majority of my friends back then were girls, and the ones that were boys played with Legos or Transformers.

I couldn't resist snapping a pic of Andrea supposedly doing something nice (the hug), but really wanting to ride on the lamb and getting thrown off. LOL

Berryblue - October 30, 2004 06:15 PM (GMT)
Seeing her riding the lamb was hilarious! I just love seeing your little "picture scenarios", Joyce! :)

I have to post the pic of the little knock off that I had when I was little--she is about the size of banana (for real)-she is his longtime girlfriend....
till little debbie SS came along....BOY there was a rift there, LOL

:wave

Those in the pic are ALL original--baby with crochet outfit--came with it.

berry elvish - January 29, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
Man, how cute is that cpk play pen??? I didn't even know there was such a thing, but I DO know if I had known it would have been all I wanted when I was a kid. Adorable!

Shellberry Shortcake - January 29, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
Hey Mel--I got that for ONE DOLLAR at a yard sale a couple years ago....

wonderberry - January 29, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)

LOL! I think one of my friends had the playpen. I stuck my dolls in a laundry basket instead! :ugh Anyone remember the CPK tablemate? It's like a high chair you attach to the table? I remember wanting one of those really badly! Since I didn't have one, I would push up to the table these high back stools we had. -_-

Shellberry Shortcake - January 30, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
omg--I wanted that SO bad too!!!
of course the 80's were the age of knock offs, lol--I think I had a knock off one.

:wave

1u11aby1ambie - January 30, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
Well since I got my new CPK, I've been wanting that vintage table mate!! I think I could attach it to my desk so she could keep me company while I'm on the computer. :lambie

PS Any remember a CPK toilet at KB toys?? My friend apparently bought one a while ago... for really cheap like $3!

Shellberry Shortcake - January 30, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
omg! Joyce--that is a super idea.. :wave

I think I know the toilet--for a doll right?

1u11aby1ambie - January 31, 2005 01:07 PM (GMT)
Yes... the toilet is for the doll!!! My friend bought it as a joke gift for someone. I think it makes flushing sounds!!!

Off to ebay to see how much a CPK table mate might cost me!!

Shellberry Shortcake - January 31, 2005 11:30 PM (GMT)
LOL! I hoped it was for the dollie...

I though maybe a child sized one...
:wave

I never had a CPK. I see them at the thrift store often for like $5 or less. They are usually naked and/or dirty. Are they easy to clean up? Can you dress them in real baby clothes or is that sacreligious? I'm serious. Should I buy them when I see them?

wonderberry - February 2, 2005 01:56 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure how to clean them... I keep seeing vintage ones at yard sales but I don't want to buy them... with plastic dolls, you can easily give them baths to keep them clean... but I'm not sure how to clean CPKs either! if there were an easy way to clean them and keep them nice, I would be buying them also. wonder if you could take them to the dry cleaners? :P

Shellberry Shortcake - February 2, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
well-I've put them in a pillowcase & put them in the washer-they can also go in the dryer with the pillow case too.

I saw if they are cheap enough--get them--I would... :wave

berry elvish - February 3, 2005 05:00 AM (GMT)
I've washed cpk in pillow cases too. And never underestimate the power of the mr. clean magic eraser!

1u11aby1ambie - February 3, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
I think I mentioned that I soaked my dolls in clorox 2 and then put them in a pillowcase in the washer. They turned out great! I think you just scrub the tougher stains with a toothbrush.

Baby clothes will be too big for CPKs, unless you get one of the soft sculpture ones. Baby clothes fit on those!

wonderberry - February 3, 2005 04:31 PM (GMT)
won't clorox 2 bleach out the hair? well... next time I see some, I will buy some then. I went to one neighborhood yard sale and they had a huge box full of old CPKs that they were selling for 25 cents each... LOL... guess I should have bought some then! :yogurt <-- she blinks now! how cute! and look at this :cheese (sorry, I just noticed these)

1u11aby1ambie - February 3, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
I didn't notice the hair on my doll bleaching out. It did get *brighter* because it was kind of gray/dusty dirty before, so I was happy. I rinsed the dolls out pretty well, so no problems. Oxyclean is a peroxide-based cleaner... I've always wondered if using regular hydrogen peroxide would be the same?

purplestar - February 4, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
Well then I guess I know what I'm looking for next time I hit the Value Village! Thanks.
Are they really all different? Is it mainly because of the clothes they are wearing? I mean there are only so many combinations of hair syle, hair color and eye colour, right?

1u11aby1ambie - February 4, 2005 02:22 AM (GMT)
They are all different... but that was also including their name/birthdate. So, I'm sure there are a lot of naked dolls with the same features. But certain combinations might be still hard to find. I remember wanting a doll EXACTLY like one my friend had... I loved it sooo much... and I had the hardest time finding one! I remember my mom and I swapped outfits on a doll (at the store) so I could get what I wanted. It's still funny when I think about it. I don't think the boxes were sealed back then like they are now.

Shellberry Shortcake - February 5, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
lol Joyce :ha I could see my mom swapping outfits on a doll...
:ha what an awesome mommy you had! :yogurt

1u11aby1ambie - February 5, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
:ha LOL... My mom was probably tired to going to every Toys R Us in the area and not finding what I wanted! Anyway, I really want to get another vintage CPK like my friend's! I wish I had her!!! I feel so sad... the last I ever heard about her doll was that it was in a toybox in her basement... with "cat sick." :eww
