Hello everyone!

I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 28 and going back to school to do nursing. Growing up in the 80s, I had all the toys, from SSC to Herself the elf, Rose Petal Place, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, MLP, CPK, Barbie, you name it. And I still have all of them!! :) I was the type of kid that took very good care of my things, which is probably why they're in such good shape 20 years later! Now I'm finishing off my collections, getting pieces that I really want (hooray for ebay!)

This is a great site to get info from. Keep up the good work!

Megan

Welcome Megan!! Nice to meet you! Which of your collections are the biggest or most near completion?

I don't know if any of my collections will ever be totally complete. I have all the Herself the elf dolls, Rose Petal dolls, all the SSC dolls w/pets (except the Party pleasers and sweet sleepers), about 15-20 CPK, and about 30-40 MLP (the early ones). I'm not one of those collectors that has an entire room devoted to a collection (I wish!) Like I said, I just get pieces I want. Like I just bought the MLP nursery and show stable (I have the pretty parlour and dream castle already from when I was a kid) and I just bought the SSC bicycle, butterfly, berry worm, trolley and gazebo. And I think that might be it for now. I saw the berry happy home on ebay and I would loooovvvvee to have it, but I just can't afford or have room for it. Maybe someday....:)

What type of collections do you guys have?

Megan

Hi Megan! :)
It is really great to meet you!

It sounds like you collect the same way I do! I like to collect only the things I really love.

It is really cool that you still have many toys from your childhood too. That only makes them that much more special.

I have many various collections as well. My favorite collection is my Strawberry Shortcake one...but others that I really, really love are my Glamour Gals and My Little Ponies.

With My Little Ponies, I only collect those that I had as a child (so those from the first few years) or ones that I really love. I really love the Sweetberry Ponies, therefore I have Blueberry Baskets and Cranberry Muffin.

I also love Rainbow Brite. My favorite being Indigo and Hammy which I still have somewhere at my childhood home.

I try to collect things that take up little space because I just don't have the room! lol I do have a handful of Care Bears but most are in storage.
Ah well, someday I will acquire some space! LOL

I am really so happy to meet you and make yourself at home! Post often so we can get to know you better!
Have fun!! :D

Hello and Welcome to 80's Toyland, Megan! I hope you find this place as comfortable as we do and that you stick around. :)

I have the biggest room in my house devoted to my toys and my computer. :D Oh, and my sewing machine is in here too, but it takes up very little space. LOL My collections include, but are not limited to: Strawberry Shortcake, Muppets, Fraggles, Sesame Street, Lord of the Rings, Hamtaro, Star Wars, some Barbies and The Tick. :D I also will buy anything I come across that I had as a child. Like Baby Crawl-Away or Munchi-chis. And I have only three mlp. One vintage and 2 new. Oh, and I just got a small cpk. LOL!

Ahem! Melanie, you forgot InuYasha! LOL

I also have a fixation on the new My Little Ponies and I used to buy nearly every one that came out but now I have narrowed it down to only buying those that I truly love the second I see them! LOL :D
(I still want Silly Sunshine, for instance)

So true, Erin, so true! How could I forget Inuyasha?! Well, I moved him to my bedroom, and I was looking around my office when I typed out my obsessions...er, collections.

Hi Megan! I also only collect stuff I really like. My biggest collection is Hello Kitty/Sanrio... and I was more obsessive about that a few years ago, but I'm trying to stick more to things I could use now. I still spend the most money on this! I also like the Strawberry Shortcake dolls... and I think the new ones are cute! I have a few of the Care Bears/beanies, my 4 vintage CPK's, and I'd probably like some vintage MLP's (ones I remember from my childhood).

I like CPK's most from my childhood, and I really wish I had some of my friend's CPKs! I would buy vintage ones that look like them... if I could only remember exactly how they were like!

Hi Megan!

Great name!!! (that's my daughter's name!) Welcome!!!!!

I have tiny collections... wonder woman and strawberry shortcake.... but it seems I'm about to start on MLP also. Too cool you still have your toys!!! when I moved out of home, my mother brought garbage bags full of all my toys. Stupid me, at the time, I thought, "what would I want with all these toys?" and I put them on the curb for garbage pickup.... if only I could go back in time. good on you for keeping yours!!!!!

Wow, thanks for all the welcomes guys! :D

Guess what, I just got a beautiful MIB CPK w/glasses! I've wanted one of those forever! I know she'll be a beauty in my collection.
Speaking of collections, I totally forgot about my Jem dolls, Smurfs, Sylvanian families and Calico critters. I still have all of them too!

Does this make me sad...or just wierd.... ;)

That's great about having all your childhood toys... and I think that makes you lucky!

I only kept my shortcake and CPKs from my childhood.

Wow! How neat! I forgot about CPK with glasses too. I haven't seen any in such a long, long time! Are they more rare than others?
