Title: Get Along Gang Got Together
Description: Something requested many moons ago...

ZipperCat - July 10, 2005 02:03 PM (GMT)
Here at last, for those who asked, are a couple of snapshots which show most of yours truly's Get Along Gang haul.

It's worth repeating that nothing, repeat n-o-t-h-i-n-g, on display here is for sale so please don't embarrass yourself or anyone else by making an offer. (sorry)

Very impressive. I never knew they made a plush of the alligator guy, nor was I aware they made different sized plush. There's a lot more to that line than I thought.

:moose OOh! I love your collection! I use to have the Dottie The Dog Medium size until one of my mean family members threw her away just a few years ago. I had her since my childhood :lites

Is she for sale??!!
LOL just kidding :D

1u11aby1ambie - July 10, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
Very cool!!! I don't remember the alligator guy... it's nice they made a plush for him! What are those wooden die-cut looking things in the center of the 1st pic?

I love the Woolma plushes!! :moose

They're part of a diorama set which includes a flat wooden "Clubhouse Caboose" (Which I haven't got. Yet.) All twelve main characters were made and they are double sided.

That bites.
Never mind, just for you, here's a closer look at the two BIG ones on their own. :)

~~Montgomery and Dotty plush PJ holders~~

They're actually P.J. holders and were made by Telitoy of Leeds, England. To one's knowledge, only Dotty and Montgomery were made although all six "lead characters" appeared on the packaging.

For your edification and delight, the 2" PVC miniatures, batch 1...

~~PVC minis~~

More soon. :)

childofthe80's - August 1, 2005 03:42 PM (GMT)
:carebear and you said that you found L. Lizard and C. Crocodile on ebay? I can't remember whether or not you said that... :cheesecake Once again, I love your collection!

ZipperCat - August 6, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
Here are the rest of those little PVC characters.

~~ more PVC minis~~

Note that Hocus Hare is still missing and as for Mr Hoofnagel and Officer Growler I really don't know if they were ever brought out as toys, although they were regular cast members in the cartoon and comic/story books.

Shellberry Shortcake - August 6, 2005 04:30 PM (GMT)
oh wow--nice collection!!

Everything is soo cool--brings back memories

thanks for posting your pics ^_^

ZipperCat - August 28, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
Naturally, no Get Along Gang Collection would be complete without one of these...

~~Miniature Caboose Playset~~

(That yellow thing on top of the cupola is a searchlight.)

1u11aby1ambie - August 28, 2005 05:28 PM (GMT)
Oh wow!!! How cute!! I see that Woolma and Zipper Cat are playing together. ;) :lambie

BTW, what was the name of the little green guy (turtle?) with glasses in the sailor hat? He's cute!!!

He's "Braker Turtle" and was played in the T.V. series by none other than Frank Welker, who also provided several other (anonymous) character voices.

Of all the "secondary" gang members, he was the only one to have a speaking part in the cartoon series and he sounded a lot like "Jinx", the robot from"Space Camp" (1986), who was also played by Welker.

Berryblue - August 29, 2005 05:41 PM (GMT)
I remember Braker Turtle!
I just loved checking out your collection. VERY cool. I have never seen much of it. The caboose playset is AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing with us! :D

ZipperCat - September 4, 2005 09:20 AM (GMT)
These turn up on eBay quite a lot, but hardly ever all at once and often without some item of clothing or other.

~~Roller Skate Plushes #1~~

~~Roller Skate Plushes #2~~

It seems there were at least two separate production runs, in China and Taiwan.

IMNSHO, the Taiwanese plushies are rather more huggable than those made elsewhere, with softer fur, cuter faces, round heads, (the Chinese ones tend to be much flatter at the back), and slightly fatter tummies.

(Although Montgomery's pants still have a tendency to fall down, due to the rather weak elastic round his waist.)

They're also a little taller than their Chinese counterparts, for some reason.

(Corner cutting-gotta love it. <_< )

1u11aby1ambie - September 4, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
Awwwww.... cute!!! :moose Don't the rollerskates remind you of those fisher price ones you'd wear when you were little?

dth1971 - September 27, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
Nice photo of your Get Along Gang collection, Zipper Cat!

ZipperCat - October 2, 2005 05:23 PM (GMT)
Catchum and Leland.

~~Catchum and Leland large plush~~

Apart from their roller skates and Catchum's jacket, these guys did not have removable clothes.

wonderberry - October 4, 2005 03:52 PM (GMT)
wow Zippercat!!! you have an AWESOME collection!!! very impressive!!! and I'm also VERY glad that you showed it... see, I'm sitting here at work looking at it, and the gal next to me says, "I have a bunch of those GAG pvc figures... they're at the bottom of my daughter's toybox." I asked what they're doing there, and she says they're old (from her childhood) and she has no use for them... then she says, "if you want them, I'll give them to you. I also have some CPK ones if you want those too." I said I'd pay her for them but she said she'd just give them to me!

so... thank you very much for sharing your collection!!!

Argh, ZipperCat, I am SOOOO Jealous of your plushie Leland Lizard! :envious

I consider myself lucky that I found the plushie Catchum Crocodile on Ebay (a rarity for me!) now if only I get lucky again, Ebay will have a listing for the plush Leland soon, since that is the number one item on my 1980's Toy Want List right now.

I am incredibly jealous of your collection, too. The best I've got to offer are the plushies (that's them in my sig, minus my plushie Catchum), a couple of the books, and a couple of tapes. Seriously, your collection puts mine to shame!

It's taken a good 18 years to accumulate, gathered from an area rich in fleamarkets and goodwill shops and of course, more recently, eBay.

Very little of this was bought brand new. The Leland Lizard plushie was obtained from TrU at the Gateshead Metro Centre, Tyne and Wear, sometime in the mid nineties and the Clubhouse Caboose from a branch of the same near Leeds, West Yorkshire. Most of the videotapes, (not shown), and many of the books were also obtained while stocks lasted.

How much support one can give the brand new Get Along Gang, now in development at AGC, remains to be seen...

I'm sold as far as the new cartoon and probably any comics/picture books go, but judging a toyline that probably hasn't even left the drawing board yet, let alone reached the production line, is a challenge, to say the least.

1u11aby1ambie - October 22, 2005 12:12 AM (GMT)
I love the record playing! That picture on it is terrific! I like how Woolma is shaking her boo-tee! LOL

geatornez82 - December 4, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
I find it interesting that the toy versions of Catchum Crocodile and Leland Lizard were only available in the UK. They are a lot cuter than I thought they would be (I finally got my hands on the plush Leland, and I'm practically in love with it for some reason  I just think he's too cute!)

Makes you wonder why they weren't available in the US way back when.

TickledSunriser - January 4, 2006 05:15 AM (GMT)
Very impressive collection! I need some updated pics of my collection, as I am embarrassed by the poor quality of my old pics, so I will post my Get Along Gang Collection in a bit, when I have better pis. ;) I hope to someday have the UK items, I only just discovered them about 6 months ago. My Grandmother gave me her whole collection, that's the only reason I started collecting it. B)

Edit - Okay... I got some pics taken, enjoy. ;)

Very nice collection!

I see you have the (quite hard to find) Flora Fox, Bernice Bear and Lolly Squirrel Dress Up Kids.

There may be a few more pics from my collection soon, it's just a matter of choosing what to photograph. :moose

You could do what I do. Take a pic of everything in groups. IE plushies, minis, etc. etc.

My collection isn't nearly as amazing as ZipperCat's and Tickled Sunriser's, but I'd like to share it anyway. Unfortunately, the only way to see it is through a link because FortuneCity does not allow direct linking:

:ssc Oh! I meant to tell you big Get Along Gang buffs: I found the neatest toy on ebay. It was a whistling Get Along Gang metal spinning top. I didn't know if any of you guys had that item....I typed in 80's toys to find it. :cheesecake

I figured since I didn't ever see them on Ebay, that they must be hard to find... but I didn't know they were that hard... are they harder to come by than the UK items? I remembering having them as a child... I loved Lolly Squirrel the most... I wish I still had the ones I had out of the box, since I won't open the ones my grandma gave me MIB. She told me when she gave me her whole MIB collection that she was sorry she didn't have the rabbit... she said she searched everywhere for it & never could find it. :( I know my cousin had the rabbit out of the package, cuz I remembered playing with it. I just wish I could find him MIB or loose.

If anyone ever comes across any of the UK figures or Rocco Rabbit MIB or loose, I would be interested in purchasing them. ;)

and I LOVE ice cream too!!! Cute! I like they have Woolma in the truck!

Okay, here are some pics of my collection, here and now, as opposed to a link to them. This isn't my entire collection, just bits and pieces. I have solo pics of each plush, and solo pics of the minis, but that'll be a little too much, so I'm just grouping here. I also have some of the UK comic books, but I haven't taken pictures of them yet. Anyway, on with the pics:

My Childhood Collection (I've had these six since the 80's!)

Clubhouse Caboose. I had one when I was a kid, but I don't know what happened to it. I found this one on Ebay. The miniatures are replaced, too. I'm missing Lolly Squirrel and Rocco Rabbit. If anyone has these two (preferably loose) and are willing to sell, let me know!

Clubhouse Caboose with minis pic

Catchum Crocodile Plush. Cuter than I thought he would be. The jacket is not the original one. He didn't come with the jacket when I found this guy on Ebay.

Catchum Crocodile Plush pic

Leland Lizard Plush. My all time favorite GAG plush. I don't know why. I just think he's soooo cute! I went through a lot of mental stress over him, though. The auction ended while I was at work. My mom had to call me to tell me I won the auction!

Get Along Gang Video Tapes. Most of these I found on Ebay. The pilot video I found in 1996 at a used video store. It came as a shock when my sis saw it. We didn't think we'd ever see it again after we broke the original tape it was on.

Get Along Gang Video Tapes pic

Get Along Gang Hardback Books. I just had The Adventures of the Get Along Gang when I was a kid. The Christmas Thief book I bought on Ebay.

Get Along Gang Hardcover Books pic

Get Along Gang paperback books. The only one of these I had from childhood was The Missing Caboose. The rest of them I bought (where else?) on Ebay.

Oh wow... you have lots of episodes. :D Okay... dunno if you want to... but is there anyway you could make me copies of them? I have been looking for someone that has tapes to make me episodes... I really want to see the show again. ^_^ If you are interested... I have LOTS of 80s cartoons that I could put on tapes for you as well. ;)

I'm sorry, but I don't sell or trade copies. I try to avoid bootleg copies of tapes when I can. :sorry

EDIT: I bought all these on Ebay (like it says in the original Post), and there might still be some on Half.com (Ebay's sister site) for reasonable prices (last time I checked). You might check there.

Tomy's Tuneyville Choo-Choo used similar discs to the Ice Cream Van. It still works, BTW, but the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired...
