My name is Melanie, I live in the middle of the USA, and I'm officially old! lol, no, I'm not old, but I did turn 30 this year. :) I do love toys and have several collections. Most of my collections are from the 90's and later (hmmm, the dates seem to coincide with my adult status and my eligibility to spend money on myself...imagine that!), but I do have a nice vintage Strawberry Shortcake collection. I also collect some new Strawberry Shortcake, though it is getting to the point where I need to stop... for... a... while. :D I love all things Jim Hensen and buy that kind of stuff (i.e. muppets, fraggles, sesame street, movies) whenever it is available and within my price range. I have a small, but awesome The Tick collection...I know it is a 90's thing, but I absolutely love the Tick and I feel an obligation to profess that love right here, right now. A few other toys sitting around my room are the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Hamtaro, Star Wars, McFarlane, and Inuyasha. :D Oh, and I give Mattel entirely too much of my $$ since I am suckered into purchasing Barbie items all of the time! I do not collect Barbie... I do buy vintage doll houses and let my kids play with them though. There's just something about seeing my kids having a blast with the Barbie Dream House (pink 80's version) that warms my heart. :D
The Tick is very cool even though he isn't from the 80s LOL!
I love Jim Henson stuff. Have you seen the movie Labyrinth (w/David Bowie)?? I have been in love with that movie forever now. I have it on dvd (of course) lol
Oh and I hear ya about giving way too much $$ to Mattel! I keep buying Barbies that I really love or are a particular theme (like I Love Lucy, International types). The new fairy line is SOOooo cute. We also buy He-man stuff too. lol Hopefully that new She-ra will be widely released.
Sorry off on a tangent...lol
Gotta love that pink Barbie Dream House!
Melanie, it's so great to see you! I love that you love the Tick! LOL! I had never seen the show, but as great as Patrick Warburton is, I can imagine! ;) I didn't know that you were a big Jim Henson fan! That would be a fun line to go into. Your kids must love playing with all of the old Barbie stuff----every little girl needs to experience that!
I'm glad that you're here. :D
Hello Melanie!!!!!!!!!!!
You are awesome. What can I say that I don't tell you everyday?? LOL
You're awesome!!! woo-hoo!
Thanks, friends...I didn't even noticed that anyone replied to this post until today! I knew I had rambled on and on about my toy obsession, but thought it was in my profile.
Oh, Toni, The Tick cartoon from the early 90's is what hooked me. It is so funny. And I have most of the live action on cd. Once I figure out how to copy dvd's I'll have it on dvd. And my husband has been spoiling me with comic books as of late. The Tick is a big blue slice of heaven. :D
Erin, I love Labyrinth too (of course). I rarely watch it anymore because I have all of the lines memorized. Ha ha. I do put it on for Taigan about once a week though. Jim Hensen's creatures are really cool. I have a special place in my heart for Fraggle Rock. It was my most favorite show as a child. I can't wait for the fraggles to be released on dvd...I will be all over that.
OH! I need to go ask a question about new Jim Hensen dvds...wonder what section of the board that will go in?
Cindie you are awesome too and I'm glad that we've been friends for so long. {{hugs}} :)
