Title: Shirt Tales Anyone?

Croww - June 28, 2005 04:57 AM (GMT)
Hey guys,

does anyone remember this series and toyline?

The only thing I remember is that I had a bunch of stampers with all the characters.
Those were the days... where a stamp pad, various cut out shapes and a pad of paper kept me busy for freakin' hours. LOL

LOL, I do, I do! I still have my Bright Eyed... [and] ...Bushy Tailed fox nightgown from 1981...though, it's cut down to be a 'punk rock' t-shirt now. And yes, I do still wear it on occasion. I remember the cartoon, somewhat, and I remember having lots of stickers with the characters on them. I can not recall any characters names though. I believe they are playing this cartoon on the satellite channel Boomerang.

**On my nightgown turned t-shirt I noticed the Hallmark name brand. I wonder if it's possible to still find these characters at various Hallmark stores. :mrt

Shirt Tales! I remember them!!!! My brother had the Kangaroo... Kip, and the lunch box! You had stampers??? I love stampers!! I saw an episode of Shirt Tales not way too long ago (well, like 10 years ago, but I was an "adult" then). I didn't remember too much about them until I saw that "reminder" episode! Then I remembered that I thought Kip was the cutest (which is probably why my brother had Kip because that was the one I got him) and I used to pretend I was Pammy (the panda), and he used to pretend he was the monkey. Their shirts had sayings that changed when they talked! (The shirts said what they were thinking.) I don't know if they had special powers or something that had to do with their shirts (besides the sayings part). LOL. I can't quite remember that. I only remember as much as I do because of seeing that one episode.

:zoeca Thank goodness I found some people that remember shirt tales...I use to watch the cartoon every Saturday morning growing up Wasn't there a mole in there somewhere? She was my favorite :) :ernie

1u11aby1ambie - June 28, 2005 06:13 AM (GMT)
Yes! I think the mole was named Digger? I think there was another "male" character who was the leader. I can't remember his name or what animal he was... maybe a tiger?

I don't think I ever got too into Shirt Tales to tell you the truth. But I have a baby picture of me wearing a Shirt Tales lifejacket when Mom was holding me on the boat back in Kingston,NY.

berry elvish, could you post a photo of you wearing the punk rocker Shirt Tales shirt?.It sounds berry cute. :ssc

Berryblue - June 28, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
I was going to mention Bogey! He's the only one I remembered (before seeing Kalei's post). My little brother ADORED Bogey and was him one year for Halloween. That mask was still kicking around 5 years or ago but it was very badly beat up. It's a shame. But, eh, it certainly got its use, he used to wear it when it WASN'T Halloween. lol

Joyce, it's funny you mentioned you used to pretend you were the characters because I seem to remember the same! And my brother was Bogey and I was Pammy!

I didn't remember their shirts with the words, although it seems that I should've being that that seems to be the thing they do. lol

And Melanie, you have to take a pic of that nightgown/shirt :D It sounds SO cool! If I came across any old nightgowns, I'd do the same but I am sure mine are long gone by now. lol

Berryblue - June 29, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)
Ahh yes... those were the days. lol
I used to love PacMan too.
I'd love to hear if Shirt Tales airs anywhere. I haven't seen that one SINCE the 80s.

weredog - June 29, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
I remember when Hardees gave away stuffed Shirt Tales with their food.I think I had Digger.

Berryblue - June 29, 2005 09:41 PM (GMT)
Cool!

I was just surfing around looking to see if you could buy any Shirt Tales episodes and came across this:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=video&n=507846
I cannnot believe how expensive it is!

And then, surfing further I found out that the voice of Kip the Kangaroo is no other than Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson (as well as MANY other Simpson characters)! Pretty cool, huh?? I would've never known!

They do play Shirt Tales on Boomerang. I remember catching the end or beginning of an episode not very long ago.

Okay, here's my super cool pictures of me in my Shirt Tales nightgown/shirt. B) If they are too large I'll resize them. :D

Cool shirt Melanie!! BTW, is that your current/natural hair color? :cpk ;) 'Cause that might be closer to "golden blonde" CPK than brown...

berry elvish - June 30, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
LOL, yeah, that is my hair color, Joyce. In the sunlight it has the blonde/gold highlights. Cool, what color is that in CPK hair? :poochie

 I love those pics of you berry elvish...they were berry cool!! OH! I forgot to tell you guys I flipped through my old sticker book and found a "shirt tales sticker" of a raccoon. So of course I went searching and come to find out they started out as hallmark cards..there was a raccoon, penguin, beaver, etc. Those were the original shirt tales before they went to cartoon form. On ebay they are selling the CUTEST sheet set with the penguin and beaver on it in MINT condition. :cheesecake

berry elvish - June 30, 2005 05:27 AM (GMT)
Hey, child, do you know how to post links? I'll have to run over to eBay and have a search for those stickers. :moose I seem to recall having stickers and stationary featuring the Shirt Tales. :D

Berryblue - June 30, 2005 03:01 PM (GMT)
Childofthe80s, that sheet set sounds so cool! I'll have to search ebay now to see what is there. Is Shirt Tales stuff rare/hard to come by? I've never really looked
