Title: "view New Posts" Feature
Description: I'm getting an error when I use this
1u11aby1ambie - September 21, 2004 05:44 AM (GMT)
I keep getting an error when I try to "view new posts" (the link up at the top next to "my assistant"). I thought when I click it, it lists all the posts that have been make since my last visit, but I'm getting a "search error." I thought at first that it was because no new posts have been made since my last visit, but I don't think that's the case!

Hmm...this is Erin (my alternate ID). I like to use this id to check out problems because I am now just marked as a "Member". I tried the "View New Posts" link and it works fine. I had two full pages full of new posts so that is, indeed, what will turn up when you click it. I am not sure why you are receiving an error. Let me know if it is still giving you that error (maybe it was an isolated time), what the error says, and if anyone else is having a problem with it, please let me know. I will look it up and see if there are any bugs associated with that feature.
So, everyone, if you click on the "View New Posts" link...does it work properly? Please let me know :)

Ok...I got this:
Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.
The error returned was:
Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show.
In this case, it is because there are no new posts since my last visit. Is this the same message or are you getting something else?

Yes, that is the error I'm getting!!! BUT, I know there have been new posts... your reply to this was a new post that should've shown up, so I don't know why I'm still getting the error. The icon next to the forums seem to work correctly, showing which forums have new posts, just not the "view new posts" feature. Maybe there is something wrong with my cookies...

Hmm...that could be... I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem?
If it keeps happening let me know. I am going to poke around the forums and look to see if there is a bug with that feature. Thank God many little bugs will be fixed before Halloween when we get an upgrade :)
Keep me posted on your end :D

Hmmm, I have not clicked that button since I read this thread, but after I'm done reading the board, I do click on the mark all forums read option and when I come back newly posted in forums' 80's buttons are not greyed out and the ones where nothing is new are. Does that make sense? I'm off to find that button you two are talking about.

Yep, got the same error message as you two!

OK...use the "My Assistant" feature instead and choose "Today's Active Topics" instead just for now until I find out what is going on. It is most likely a bug and it should be fixed in October :)
I'll keep you all posted on what I find out...

OK! I found the info :)
There was a bug with the Search Feature and here's what I got:
| QUOTE |
the Search feature has been disabled on all InvisionFree boards for repairs. Since the "View New Topics" feature is based on the search feature, it doesn't work either.
Just so you know, the search feature should be fixed with v2.0 |
So, it looks like the "My Assistant" feature is ok so far. It may or may not be part of the search feature. Right now it is working all right if you want to click on the link to "Today's Active Topics" within it OR use the link (Today's Active Topics) located just above "board statistics" on the main page until the upgrade. If you use this, all the new posts within the active topics should be marked with the "80s" graphic :)

Thanks Erin! I couldn't figure out why it WAS working not too long ago, and then suddenly wasn't. I thought my cookies were messed up, but the 80's icon was working fine.

No problem! :) Thanks for bringing this to my attention and be sure to let me know if you run across any other bugs. I'll be happy once the upgrade is done :D
