Title: Melanie...
Description: CPK Melanie!
1u11aby1ambie - April 19, 2005 08:42 AM (GMT)
Melanie birthday May 19OK... so she's not a Gemini or a cornsilk... and her hair is too blonde to be you... and she has that scrunched up smile... BUT, I still think she's cute! She almost looks like my childhood CPK...
berry elvish - April 19, 2005 03:07 PM (GMT)
She's alright, but the only really cool thing is her name! I have never seen any doll with my name before. :D
Oh, Joyce...I found two I liked last night. One was blond, but had a happy face...at Walmart. She was really cute! Jon was with me and he is not going to approve of me buying a cpk for $30 when I already have a cart ful of Star Wars figures, lol, but I may go back and get her this week...my car is out of commission until Friday and I'll have Jon's truck Wednesday evening...so maybe then. OR I saw a really cute brown haired one at Target...she was great, except that her eyes were more bright blue. So, I can not decide...do I want to go with the blond or the brown haired doll? Joyce...you should see my hair color, I think to help me decide!

I don't know what color your hair is now... but in that cookie monster costume pic, your hair was blonde. Of course, that was a LONG time ago!!! LOL Whenever I see that strawberry blonde color... I keep thinking *that* would be your hair color... until I notice it's kind of reddish! Do you think your hair lightens in the summer and would be more "blonde" or is it dark enough that it would stay brown? It's a really tough call. I had a friend who had light brown hair so that is the color I'm picturing. I think I would go with a chestnut brown...
Oh... do you think your eye color is more like the "dark" blue ones on CPKs instead of the bright blue, or do they look more violet-blue? I've seen bright blue, dark denim blue, green-blue, and violet-blue...
berry elvish - April 21, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
This is the first summer I've had my natural hair color in at least 15 years...so I'm not sure what it's going to do. LOL I honestly think it's not that blond at all, but it is definitely not brown either...it's like that dishwater or dirty blond color. This sucks. Hmmm, and my eye color is really grey...so not bright blue. In pictures my eyes look very bright/light blue, but in the mirror they look very dull and grey. So, I am going for that eye color...I'm not sure which of the ones you are describing is the one I've seen on the cpk dolls. I need to check out the links in the other thread and see if I can find the right color eyes to show you.
You know, I'm pretty much set on the brown haired doll. The thing that stops me is that when I'm holding the brown haired doll...I'm not 100% sure that is the right hair color. I think maybe it's too dark and not the lightest of the browns (cornsilks) and then I put the doll back. And then I regret it when I go home and look on the internet because I know there is not the 'light brown' or tan color in the Cornsilks.
berry elvish - April 21, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
boy cpkOkay, Joyce, is this the lightest brown hair for the cornsilks? This is the same color hair and eyes that the doll at Target has. I'm going back for her tomorrow if you you say this is the lightest brown hair color!
1u11aby1ambie - April 21, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
Yes, that is the lightest brown!!! They made 7 colors, a light and dark version of blonde, red, & brown, plus black. Looks like you better go back for her!!!
cornsilk hair colorsblonde (platnium & gold)
red (strawberry & auburn)
brown (med/chestnut & dark)
black (A/A & Asian only)
1u11aby1ambie - April 21, 2005 11:21 AM (GMT)

That's the only hair color that would be even close to "tan" or light brown... I believe that's strawberry blonde. The straight hair style makes it look a lot less red! All the curly styles look definitely redder.
berry elvish - April 21, 2005 03:17 PM (GMT)
I've seen that color too and been 'tricked' by it. LOL But up close it does look strawberry blonde. I will have to go this evening if my car is out of the shop by then. I am a bit excited that I think I've finally found a CPK!! :D I think her birthday was in October, but I don't care so much about that. I like October.
Berryblue - April 21, 2005 06:48 PM (GMT)
It's interesting to see what all the CPK cornsilk haircolors are. I had no idea. :)
BTW... what I think is so interesting about these new CPKs is that the dark blue eye color is the EXACT color of MY eyes. I think it's so neat!!
1u11aby1ambie - April 22, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
:hkhappy :hkhappy :hkhappy Let's hope she is still there!! Please post pics if you *do* get her! :cpk :cpk :cpk :cpk
berry elvish - April 23, 2005 04:24 PM (GMT)
Joyce, I was thinking last night how I forgot to thank you for helping me on my CPK quest! Thank you very much.
I didn't get to the store yesterday. Kindred invited a kid for a sleep over and his mom didn't confirm/rsvp until evening of the night it was on. I'm headed into town later, but I'm not going to Target...so if I don't see 'my cpk' at Walmart, I won't be buying one today. I may make another trip into town tomorrow to take my eldest child to the comic book store...and that is very near Target. ;)
berry elvish - April 26, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
I went to Target yesterday and I just couldn't bring myself to buy that cpk. I never remember to take a camera either. Her eyes were the bright blue...and I just couldn't buy her. Her hair was great and her face was great too though. I should throw my camera in my purse right now just so I can get a picture of her for you. Her name was Tammy and her birthday was in November. I think I'll keep looking though.
I'm just the opposite of you Joyce...I can never buy one! I only want one, so it should be the most perfect one I can get. Any word on when (if) they are going to do that build-a-cpk thing?
1u11aby1ambie - April 26, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
If you want the gray-blue eyes, then maybe you should wait! Dolls with brown hair seems HTF on-line. I am going to bring my camera out and see if I can't get comparison pics of the brown hair and eye colors for you :P Are you sure you don't want golden blonde? Maybe you should snap a pic of your hair color for me!!
wonderberry - April 28, 2005 03:54 PM (GMT)
yeah Melanie, I was going to suggest you go with the gold since that's the closest... they don't really have your hair color... but the pic of that CPK that Joyce posted is so much closer! too bad it's more strawberry up close. you should just dye your hair to the color of the CPK you get... hahahahaha j/k
You can send in the adoption papers and change the name and birthday of your CPK to whatever you want... and they'll send you the new birth certificate!
berry elvish - April 29, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Hey, Cindie, I think that Joyce and I looked at the adoption papers and there wasn't an option to send them in and receive a new paper birth certificate. I think it was strictly an online option and you had to print out the new cert. And I know what you mean, that doll in the picture has hair color very similar to mine...more than blonde and more than brown anyway, but up close it has a reddish tint that I don't have. So, all three are a toss up! I definitely lean towards the brown though. My hair is almost a mixture of steel grey, blonde and brown. This is why I dyed it all those years! LOL I'm going to Enid, OK this weekend and I can check out their Walmart and Kmart, maybe I'll get lucky.
1u11aby1ambie - April 29, 2005 10:11 PM (GMT)
Cool!!! Let us know what you find. And we don't know... maybe they will come out with light brown hair in the future! I found Asian yarn hair dolls with brown hair! I thought that was interesting. I'd actually like a super dk brown Asian cornsilk... the true black looks sooooo black. My childhood friend had light brown hair, so that's what I'm guessing your hair color is. Her mom had brown hair like the med. brown, and my friend told me that her mom had her hair color when she was young, so I guess it got darker! Actually, if I didn't know that the color on that doll was supposed to be strawberry blonde, I'd be telling you that it was light brown... LOL
1u11aby1ambie - June 12, 2005 10:53 PM (GMT)
Argh! I wish I had brought my camera with me yesterday. I found all the different hair colors for CPKs at one store and could've gotten a great picture! I also saw all the different cornsilk outfits... and one of them came with light brown hair! So... the pink vest/pink jeans oufit came with the light brown hairpiece (bangs and braids)! If you see that outfit in the store, you'll know that the bangs/braids from that outfit is the lightest brown!
berry elvish - June 13, 2005 03:13 AM (GMT)
I will definitely keep my eyes open for the pink vest/ pink jeans outfit then. Thanks for the update, Joyce. :D
Oh, speaking of cpk...I'm sorry I haven't sent that pillow doll to you yet! We've turned our house upside recently switching rooms about and I'm am so very unorganized at the moment...but soon, I promise!
1u11aby1ambie - July 3, 2005 07:41 AM (GMT)
Melanie... I was out being a nerd today :P ... I snapped a big of the brown CPK hair colors for you...
The one on the left is the "lighter" brown.

Here is a girl with strawberry blonde hair next to the light brown hair girl (same girl from above pic):

But after seeing that pic of you, I think you should go with the golden blonde hair color! The lighter brown seems way too dark and it has a slight reddish tint to it if you compare it to the dk. brown, but it looks brown on its own.
berry elvish - July 4, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
Joyce, are you saying that the 'golden blonde' color isn't on any of the above pictured CPKs? :ha So, which color is golden blonde then? And I think that the light brown haired cpk above has the right color blue eyes. :D I would probably have been tempted to buy her had I seen her in person. I may break down and get a yarn hair doll because those had the best facial expressions I've seen so far.
1u11aby1ambie - July 4, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
Here's a pic of the golden blonde hair color (on the right) next to a strawberry blonde girl:

You might as well wait until August or whenever the new batch of cornsilks arrive in the stores. I've seen some of the new babies and they are just soooo cute! I think they will use some new headmolds on the new cornsilks too. And hey... they might even make some new haircolors!
berry elvish - July 4, 2005 03:22 PM (GMT)
But, Joyce, I love that super curly, two pony-tail hair style and the open mouth smiles too! That golden blond cpk in the very pretty pink dress is gorgeous! If only she had the blue/grey eyes, I would have you buy her for me! LOL, if you really think I should get that color blond, then I'll start my search again. I know I've seen them with that color hair, a great face and the right color blue eyes many times before. I just thought that the hair was too light for me.
wonderberry - July 4, 2005 06:53 PM (GMT)
oh, I think that is a cute hair color! Yes, Melanie, I think you're more a blonder color! Your natural hair color is blonde. :girlie :poochie
