Hello.

I just joined the group and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Yosi. I live in Los Angeles where i scour the thrift stores, garage sales and swap meets 'til my wife threatens to kick me out of the house for spending all the money on 'junk.' I'm a product of the 80's and an avid collector in general. Lots of stuff... 60's glass, Soul music 45's, found photography and such....

I held onto a lot of my toys from the 80's and then started adding to the collection about 5 years ago. Now I have... well... quite a few... as I'm sure a few of you do too...

I like the basics. I have about 30 skate boards. All bright neon and 'totally radical dude.' I collect some action figure, but thats really not my bag (although i do have the entire 'muscle man' collection... (have a soft spot for those)... I have baseball cards, garbage pail kids... all the transformers, go-bots, robotek and thuderkats...

I loooove 80's TV... I have a big DVD collection...Alf, Amazing Stories, 21 jumpstreet, Magnum PI, Gem, Josie and The wimp Cats, The A-Team, He-Man, Small Wonder, ... and my faaaaavorite... Sledge Hammer! I loved that show... and the second season comes out on DVD this month...woohooo! They're giving away a bunch of free dvd's on their website... i know i know... im a full on geek...

Anywho... That's me...

Hi there Yosi. Your posting name is hilarious. And loooong!
Sledgehammer was great. Makes me wonder why shows that people like get cancelled but shows like "Paradise Island" or "Life on a Stick" get on the air. I'm a sucker for The Greatest American Hero.

You collect skateboards, do you actually ride them? I have absolutely no balance or coordination...a bike is as good as I get!

Have fun here with us.

PS. I know what you mean about your wife...my husband is a collector, but he hates going to thrift stores and i drag him to yard sales. But there are treasures to be found.

I never knew that Sledge Hammer only aired for 2 seasons... interesting...

i dont actually ride skateboards anymore... wow. that feels like it was a lifetime ago! These days I just gather them and hang them on my office wall. My favorite, is the 'Shock Wave'... It's the brightest neon green you've ever seen with that 80's lightning bold font writing in grip tape. With an even pinker thank pink olie pad and nose guard... its rather insane... most people come into the office and laugh out loud...

:)

sledge hammer was brilliant and taken off before its time. i watch the DVD of Season One now and can't believe how funny they really are. i was young when they first came on air and couldn't fully appreciate how good it really was. i suggest you all get yourselves a copy... or at least sign up to try and win a free one... soooooo many priceless 80s moments...

Well, I'm a geek, too! I think I joined a little later than you, but I thought I'd say :hello I'm Shanna (yes, like banana) :P I loved so many of the things you listed  Anyway, your skateboard collection does sound 'outrageous'. And you seem to have a great attitude. See you around the boards, Yoshi!
